heres a write up on a local SUP pioneer/builder/fellow Zoner from the Vineyard.  I've had a few opportunities to talk with Patrick and race next to him (for a few seconds :D). Definitely a down to earth dude and stoked on all that is SUP.  Interview is quality, enjoy the read...

Patrick is definitely the man. Doing SUP far longer than anyone else out here. Hard core for sure.

Really good approach to sport and life.... passion with common sense and conscience.

One key point he made
"I think it is like drag racing was in the 50s and 60s – kind of this age of innocence. Not too many rules, just people getting together to test each other and have a good time. I hope it stays that way. A look back through history will show you how governing bodies and structure tend to take the fun out of things."

Too bad that will never happen... :'(

SUP evolved from the coastal surfing community... but, like Patrick said, there's a whole big "middle" out there just starting to blossom.

I've never actually met him but we've  spoken on the phone numerous times. He's really nice and I enjoy talking board design with him . Hopefully sometime soon I'll have an original !
