I see the surface area of her paddle is quite large.

Everything else seems to be juuuusst the right size  ;D

Yep, my board doesn't have tie downs.  I think I'll pick up those air head ones.  it'll be nice to swap them between boards.

Here's the NC law - http://www.ncwildlife.org/Boating/LawsSafety/ChildrenMustWearPFDs.aspx  They don't specify SUPs (never been stopped until the 4th of July) but I guess the PFD has to be type I, II or III

Get a 2 dollar whistle . You have to have a sounding device also in NC. Crazy,I know but get one.

Gear Talk / Re: Potentially pointless comparison of old boards
« on: July 04, 2016, 12:38:29 PM »
Hana - it may be a good move to find a quality older board.  We have done that over the years and amassed a fleet of extremely well priced high quality boards now.  Pricing was hugely discounted over new.

Did a comparison of the supvic 14 test recently and you should check that out for even "older" quality boards.  Compared my 30 Touring Carbon pintail to my 27.5 Dominator head to head - and found only a small variance in finishes interestingly.

Surprisingly out of 13 results - it was 8 to 5 with the Dominator "winning".  But 2 of those were within 3 seconds.  So if the Touring won those - the results would have been 7 to 6 for the wide Touring!

So if not too serious about racing.  Get any quality board and it will be plenty fast enough - and will last - so long as you care for it.  Smart move kwolfe.   ;)

For what I'm looking for used would be great. No racing just a displacement board with great glide for long tours in 5-10mph winds. Anything over 12 mph and I'd use the F-14.
I'm thinking 14' and 29 or 30' width, carbon for light weight as I'm careful with my boards. Top speed doesn't matter so old race type boards would work. I want stability and super glide at mid-speed with least amount of effort. I may start thread on what board features yield these results.

Thanks for the comparison. I'd like to see more of these on boards a few years old. I'm starting to look for a 14' to add with my Sic F14 Wide and I'll go used or end of year close outs due to 2016 prices, probably used. I'd think a lot of people are looking used to get a quality high end board at good price. THANKS

Voting third party is not a waste of my vote. It is to show my utter DISDAIN for the GOP.  When they look at their records they know when Repubs are voting but no longer voting Repub.
I don't know how long its ever gonna take but one day they will do a palm to face and think " DUh HUh there was our sign"
Be too late for me at my age but  OH WELL nothing I can do. As Pono said...GOP left me!! :(

Pretty hard to call me that. If there were a button sitting on my desk that would make her disappear without a trace I'd hurt myself pushing it too hard and fast. Plus I'm slightly to the right of Ghengis Khan. But those assholes aren't. I don't know what they are, but conservative ain't it. Kind of like the whole "Planing/Not Planing" thing.

Your opening post and this one quoted are exactly how I feel. Like Tom,I dropped my Republican registration in 2004 after watching Tea Party and Repubs bringing everything to a halt and their whole agenda being to obstruct Obama( in essence USA) and not do their job.
I agree that I don't know what they are are what the stupidity they are spewing is but it ain't conservatism.
I'm 65 yo and my Mom and Dad were die hard Repubs. Dad's dead but my Mom says she won't vote this year,1st time never voting for her. I told her,I don't recognize the GOP anymore but they ain't you're Daddy's GOP (per the Buick commercial). I don't know how I'll vote !!! and live with my conscience. Guess I'll write in my Grandson's name for President.

Gear Talk / Re: Article about board toughness
« on: June 18, 2016, 11:24:14 AM »
TEX, I would buy a board like that in a New York minute!

I had a good chat with the president of Pau Hana. I'm working on an article now — there is some interesting stuff coming down the pike, but I promised not to say anything until I write the piece and checked with him. They're also working on getting me a 11' board with the Ricochet construction to try out.
You will love that board for your environment. The Pau Hana Big Easy was my 1st "real" paddle board in 2008 and 9 boards later I just sold it last year. In the tough design they have this year it should be a great river and rocky shores board. I hope they do a 12'6 or 14' or heck a 13' ?" touring displacement hull board with tie downs and Yeti cooler attatchments like Bote boards use.

QuickBeam, Are you in the US? If so I'd like to know how much fin and shipping are if possible. I'd like a 7" and 8.3 and I'm on East Coast. THANKS

The extra weight helps trim that board out and get more board length in water for more glide.Hope the smaller paddle and some time to strengthen that spot solves your problem cause that is a super nice board.
