I'm truly interested in the X-14. I've been looking for a 14' board for the intercoastal waterway and bays and tidal rivers here in North Carolina. 29.5 is my MINIMUM width I'd consider. The only reason I want speed and glide is to make for an easier long distance cruise. This board sounds like it fits the bill but I'd need a test paddle for sure before buying a $2grand board. I've currently using the Tahoe Zephyr 14 but when wind gets over 10mph the chop and boat wakes makes the full displacement and large canoe nose hard to manage. It really becomes no fun. I'd love to find a board I'd still be smiling at in 12-15 sea breezes and small white capped intercoastal waters.

C'mon guys, you gotta love the spit thing. I'm from North Carolina and my Dad had small lawging(logging)company. He always had a half smoked cigar in one side of his mouth and a big chaw(chew) of RedMan chewing tobacco in the other side. Never figured out how he never missed when spitting in the Dixie cup on the dashboard(stuck there with tobacco spit)of his pickup truck ;D

Thanks DJ. I Think I'll get a Gladiator Pro and give it a try. It really is a great touring board in the environment I use it in. Next will be tie downs, can't believe a touring board has none. I've worked with glass and epoxy a little so I may try to add some myself, just don't know if I could make myself put glue ons on this board.

DJ, I have the new 2013 Naish 12'0 Touring board. It's 31" wide and super stable with the double concave nose and looks great with the winger tail. My problem is with the fin box so close to the tail the Ninja sticks 3" out behind this board so I put the 10.5 Naish fin back in. I strictly tour the intercoastal waterway and creeks and rivers that dump into the ocean. I'm looking glide and speed.Do you think the Gladiator Pro at 7.25" would be enough fin for this board or should I consider Gladiator Hybrid at 8.5"??   Have you paddled this board yet? THANKS

I gotta say it...I love my Ninja too ;D  It's on a displacement hull also,Tahoe Zephyr. I get mesmerized watching the wake come off the nose of the board. Improved the speed, stability and manuverability of this board.THANKS goes to Larry for a great fin.

I can't find much info on the new Rubicon(ride tests, rough water, etc.) but I've seen one in Dealer here locally and I like the look of the new nose.Should be a good board in chop. The tie down points on Tahoe are the largest and are great. If you get one, give us a water test review please.I'm interested in one.

I'm not sure if it qualifies or not but I started with one of the 1st Pau Hana Big Easy's out. It doesn't have bungee eyelets, etc. that they do now. I still have it and enjoy a paddle on it occassionally. Actually my first SUP was a 10' Wave Rod in '07. 10'x28" and tippy but I learned on it(at the "tender" age of 56).Sold it after a few months to buy the Pau Hana.

I just joined Standup Zone a few days ago but I think I've found my favorite thread here ;D However the Hot Chicks stuff may prove to be tougher on me at 62 than the actual stand up paddling is!
