Foil SUP / Do prone foil surfers go faster than their SUP brothers?

Is it me or do the prone guys seem to move a lot faster that the guys on SUP? Logically it doesn’t make sense because both are flying the same foils, but when I watch the videos or see the guys out on the water, the prone foil surfers seem to be going way faster. Am I crazy?

Foil SUP / Video: Installing an arch bar on your foil SUP

If there is one thing that has helped me fly better, its proper foot position. Sometimes I use a strap over the back foot, but lately, I've been rocking a simple arch bar to help me index my back foot. This video shows how to install a pad on your board. Its super simple to install, and hopefully, you find it helpful.

Fun Fact: Halfway through the installation process, my buddy Jeff said, "you should film this." So a lot of the shots were "re-created" after most of the work was already done. That is why there are no shots of me peeling off the old pad - which is actually the hardest part.

I see Dave at San-o all the time. Super nice guy. I’m interested in purchasing one of his foils. Have any of you flown one? They looks awesome.

Foil SUP / Converting an old SUP into a Foil SUP

I had an old 8-6 laying around in my wife's office in Santa Cruz. I decided to not only have a Tuttle box installed but to also chop off the tail to decrease the overall size. Stretch and his crew did an excellent job. The board is a lot smaller than my Starboard Hypernut, but it is really playful. I made a little video explaining the process.

Foil SUP / Places to foil in L.A.

Foil SUP / Where are guys foiling in Santa Cruz

I’ve been here for three days and can’t get it dialed. The beaches have been tough due to stormy conditions. Town was fantastic, but the kelp was driving me insane. I’d get flying and feeling good, than Bam!!! - Over the handlebars.

Local sup shop recommended Cowells but it’s Cowells and there seems to always be a big crowd of rookie surfers.

I was thinking Davenport, but that place is usually booming.

If any of you have any ideas, I’m all ears. If you don’t want to name spots, you can message me.

Foil SUP / Video: My first time foil surfing and what I learned

After a bit of success behind the boat, I drove out to Southern California and tried surfing in some small mushy waves. It is way harder than I thought, but so much fun. I shot a little video showing what I learned. I'm figuring it out, but I'm a long way from being comfortable flying.

Foil SUP / Foil surfing behind a pontoon boat in AZ.

After watching every damn video on youtube I feel like I have a personal relationship with the guys from Blue Planet.

. Unable to contain my excitement, my Buddy and I rented a pontoon boat at Roosevelt Lake and he drug me around the lake for four hours. It was super fun and a lot more doable than I imagined. I shot a little video of the experience. Let me know what you think. Arizona Super Kook!!!

Foil SUP / Anyone in San Diego install Tuttle Boxes

I want to convert an old SUP into a foil. San Deigo is the closest surf city to where I live. If you know anyone who can install a Tuttle Box, I'd greatly appreciate it. I live AZ now, but get to San Diego often.
