Hey how is that Home Depot EPS, is it pretty similar in quality to a surfboard EPS blank? I read some articles about guys using it and seems like it would work fine. Have you shaped with it before? Is it 1# or 2# ?
Thanks

Any one seen the EPS foam sold in Home Depot? It's used for insulation in buildings but apparently guys on swaylocks are using it make epoxy boards. Has anyone here done this or know the major differences between insulation EPS and the stuff pros make boards out of? I don't see why EPS blanks are so expensive and this Home Depot foam is so cheap..

As a designer I would like some feed-back on wide points. Forward-Mid-Aft
I definitely like the feeling of having the wide point forward. In my opinion it makes the board do nice full carves without having to step way back on the tail. I've ridden the 10'6" munoz a lot and one thing I've noticed with that board is that you really have to tail surf it because it has quite a bit of 'hips'. Lately I've been stand up surfing with this old 8'8" Herbie Fletcher longboard (because i'm light and young) but it has a nice full nose and flows back into a square tail. For a 30 year old water logged board it rides pretty good. The wide point is forward and you kind of surf it with your front foot almost, kinda like a fish.

Yeah but look at it, I wouldn't pay half that price for one of those. That thing is so straight and stiff looking I bet it surfs like a giant pencil. I think this is one example of taking the 'fish' shape too far. Just my opinion of course...

Does the hydroturf give you much padding or is it pretty firm? What was the shipping cost for the $25 sheets and has anyone had any major blems in it? Thanks guys

Does the cork come apart easy or does it feel pretty sturdy? Cork looks like it would kind of disintegrate ...

Many of the SUP boards have diamond tails, from what I heard they are supposed to make the board feel shorter by giving them a smaller turn radius... Is this correct? Anyone care to elaborate?

Are the 8'6" glass boards you're making strictly custom orders, or will you be making some to put in shops? Any of them coming to Kauai, or how could I get a hold of one? Mahalos

Whoops! Sorry Blane for asking the same question
Chan: What shape/dimensions will your 8'6" be? Sounds like it will probably be an awesome board, how long will it take to be made? Im interested in getting a new board, I've been paddling various longboards for the past year and now want something a little more progressive.

Hey Blane are there any plans for a production board smaller than your 9'2'' ? I keep seeing more and more boards show up all over the place and can't wait until some of the pop outs get under 4" thick and 27" wide. I think something a little smaller than the 9'2" lileo kinimaka board would suite a lot of the up and coming kids and people 150lbs and under. Mahalos
