Good job. That's a great idea PP has there. I used to train hard for and up coming race. That was my motivation. It's hard to train to just train. You need that carrot on the stick. There used to be races almost every weekend. Even mid week sprint races with beers after. Now there are maybe 3 races in a year in SoCal? I'm glad to see the SUP racing stoke continuing. I just looked at Paddle Guru and there are no SUP races scheduled in SoCal for the rest of the year. Kinda Crazy..
Yeah its definitely the sign of the times with covid. The training at Performance Padding is amazing, we do some awesome drills, its literally my gym on the water. I try to attend three days a week and I feel like I just got my butt kicked some nights. We are going to be working on sprints here soon, starting from the sitting position, should be fun. BTW theres always beer in the parking lot afterwards

So after training last night our coach gave us a very good pep talk to accomplish the M2O Virtual paddle this weekend. This will be my biggest test, our group at Performance Paddling has some very strong paddlers, I and proud to be a part of this amazing group of athletes!

Thanks for the advice to talk with Chris. I learned a lot about fins which was useful. I splurged and purchased the Ray and the Tiger. I’ll send an update in a few weeks.
Congrats. be sure to post some reviews

Been thinking about a 14x24.5 very soon, but then I might do a custom 14x25 keep my 27" for open ocean and maybe the 24.5 for races, be nice to have two

Thanks for the advice on all fronts. I’ll try calling Chris. I noticed you are going to the Maliko. What have you seen different with the Maliko versus the Ray?
My Ray fin got damaged a couple weeks ago, so I asked Chris about something else for my board, he recommend the Maliko. The ray for me had some drag and not as fast in sprints, but was very stable. The Maliko is imo more of a overall fine, chop, sprints, tracking and stable. Send him a email, he will respond promptly, be sure to tell him what board you have and the dims. Good luck.

Give Chris a call at Black Project, tell him what you have and how you use your board, he has the best customer service out of any of these other fin makers. I have a Ray for my board but just switched to a Maliko since my 27' wide blackfish is stable enough

Great pics TallDude, funny how board design has changed over the years. Saturday was our last long paddle training before the 16 miler on the 25th. It was a beautiful morning as we started at 6:30 am with no wind, little swell made for a challenge for me as a newbie to open ocean. It was my longest open ocean paddle so far. I did fall three times, twice I caught myself on the front of my board and the third well I went in, kinda felt good as it was very warm. Still trying to get my sea legs hopefully that will come with time. I am very humbled by the sport and have so much respect for the people who are very good paddlers, young, old, male, female...I will get there eventualy.........I HOPE BTW love that Infinity board, do you still have it? I think you're correct Ive seen a lot more paddlers out as of late. Our training club has grown Since the whole covid thing, Mon, Wed, fri evenings we have close to 20 paddlers, its super fun.

With that many people you should get more than one board.
LMAO
