Took my new wide aquatic out for its maiden voyage today, all I can say is, it was a very humbling experience. I caught maybe three waves which I actually rode, and face planted at least a half dozen times. Spent a shit load of time swimming and falling, (that really tires you out fast). At least the waters warm. Im going to take this as a new challenge and I will stick with it until I get it right. Im going to give mad props to all you sup surfers who got this sport nailed, you truly are my heroes. Until next time KOOKIE out

Gear Talk / New Hippo-stick Triple G

Picked up the new Hippo Stick triple G today and paddled it for about a hour and a half. My first impression was how light it was 100% 12k carbon. On entry it felt like a hot knife going through butter no flutter at all, its so smooth at the catch and feels like its got a lot of power when you need it. Should be easy on the shoulders. I think this paddle will be very forgiving on long paddles but still pack a punch when you need it to (sprints) anyhow more testing to come. Blade size is 7.1 inches wide  which makes up the 87sq in so far for 420.00 its great, great, great.....se what I did there;)

SUP General / Victory Koredry Great (customer service)

Took a lil drive north to HB today to exchange some shirts that were mis marked at Victory Koredry today. I originally ordered a XL and found out today it was actually a 3x, no wonder it was huge. The lady at Victory Koredry was super cool and made sure I had the correct size when I left. She even took back the 3x which I've been using for about a month and gave me the correct size in exchange. Got a tour of the shop where everything is done in house here in So Cal HB USA, Got to meet the owner and his daughter which made sure I was 100% happy with my shirts. Will buy from them again. Small business at its best

SUP General / First time out in open ocean Dana Point red buoy , I suck!

 After several months of practicing in the harbor and doing pretty well on buoy turns, and feeling comfortable on my 14x27 blackfish I decided to go out to the first buoy today (I think its the red one)  as I struggled to keep my balance I became very disappointed, had to drop to my knees to keep my balance ;(   As I was paddling, I did notice that there was a swell along with boat traffic  and I was paddling sideways against it? Not sure that was the problem. The kicker was my wife was on her 12six x 27 blackfish and she was doing awesome (WTF)  she was on the upside of me if that make any sense, meaning I was on the inside towards the shore. Anyhow the whole experience left a sour taste for me in open ocean. Now the wifes all cocky and shit Maybe Talldude will help me

Curious what some of you are using for sun protection quick dry shirts. Ive ordered a Koredry xl thats really big, then ordered another one in a different color xl thats not even the same ,which is a totally different fit much slimmer fit. I ordered my wife a Koredry tank thats says loose fit and its almost a compression fit wtf??  Think ill be driving to HB on Monday to show them the big differance in the exact same shirt......... seems like no QC imo

Been on the list since last December when Danny was developing this new paddle, finally it will be here next week. Im going down to the shop to buy one ( I think )  Here are the specs according to Danny's text to me today.

Surface area 93 sq in
width is  7"
construction is 12k carbon.
weight 16 oz

Danny also added he loves this paddle, super forgiving over long paddles, and still explosive in a sprint.

Gear Talk / Straight vs Bent shaft paddles

Anybody have any pros or cons vs either one?. I us a straight shat paddle but was at baby beach demoing some Werner bents, and the guy was really pushing them for better alignment and since I've had shoulder surgery says would be better for my shoulder imo felt a little weird to me......... thoughts.

SUP General / Feet Cramps

Anybody else have a problem with feet cramps to the point of almost going numb, maybe it just takes time to get the muscles in my feet to adapt but damn the first paddle around the harbor becomes a bitch, then after standing for a while second paddle around is all good. Any good stretches to do?
