problem solved. cutting and making hole for screw.
as for rewiew of the board... i dont feel competent enough as i consider myself as recreational peddler. i'll try to write my impression of the board soon.

The Bat Wing is made that way and it suits very short boxes :)

Seems like a major oversight for such a prominent SUP company. Is the fin slot short on the 27 and 28" wide All Star as well? I imagine it would be.

I think so. This pic is from an Allstar 2016. Don't know the width...

Hello!
I think that Larry Allison's SUP Race Fins in Click-it version will fit into Starboard's new shorter boxes.

Gear Talk / Re: Any of you cold water guys ever used a heated wetsuit?
« on: October 12, 2015, 01:25:56 PM »
Henrik - How cold does your water get? Here as low as 34 degrees Fahrenheit. 6 5 4 with a hood is the gold standard. Global warming? In the 80's I remember seeing water temps below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Really not fun. FROZEN!

Hello! Wintertime it can creep down to 32°F. Been paddling in icy waters. No problem except that carbon doesn't like ice very much. Fortunately my Fanatic didn't go Titanic last winter. Hand to fix the nose after that session :)

Not sure what you consider as cold but here in Sweden (the Baltic sea) I use a 6/5/4 wetsuit with a hood in winter. No need for anything with a battery. 3mm gloves and 7 mm booties.

Gear Talk / Re: The ventral fin from Larry W. Allison
« on: July 03, 2015, 02:15:24 PM »
Hello!
I have now, since early 2013, been paddling with AVS fins. Only touring and raceboards. I started doing so because I wanted a bit more tracking and being able to take some more strokes/side before changing.
What I have noticed that came along with the increased tracking was that the boards became MUCH more stabile. Approximately 2 inches more stabile. This meant that I was able to take on much more challenging conditions.
Some other advantages that appeared were that it is so much easier paddling either with the waves coming in from the side in upwind or downwind. Way easier to hold my intended course! I don't get pushed away from or off the waves as much as before. It also increases my ability to surf the raceboards in a, say, 20° angle on the wave. Footsteering doing a DW is also better and if I get up real speed I will stand so far back on the board that I am lifting the ventral fin out of the water which mean I can steer the board as a surfboard. The lifting goes for bouy turns aswell :)
In flatwater I downsize the ordinary centerfin so increased drag is next to nothing. But sometimes I don't because of the increased tracking so it doesn't really matter.
It might get some increased weight but that is nothing I notice on the water.
So far I've had them installed on a Bark Competitor 2012, Fanatic Fly Race flatwater 14' and a Starboard Allstar 12'6x26,5".

Hi!
No, you are not the only customer up here in Sweden  :D You already have the installation kit for Proboxes and you already have the perfect fins for a Simmons type board, the keels (TWINS). And I got some Proboxes for you.  :D

Take care

I have the railsaverpro on my surf sup from Gong because that board needs it. The Railsaver pro works brilliant. Maybe I should get one for my surf paddle and one for the paddle I lend to people? I have to check out the pricing on those.

I like the Hybrid Gladiator from Larry Allison in the open ocean, chop and whitecaps on both my Fanatic 14' and my Starboard 12'6. It is great on dw and even if you want to footsteer the board in some surf. Makes the board much more stable and tracks really well too.

Thanks DJ!
I looked at the Falcons and it didn't look like they've done alot with them. Change of fins but what else? Not sure.

Henrik F

They've lowered the deck a fair bit on that huge bulbous nose area to help with roof rack damage.. DW board stacking.. and catching in side winds.. Not much else has changed..
I heard that people where quite happy with all the nose volyme in the 2014 and that it didn't submarine that easily. Wonder what it will be like now?
