He looks like a tightrope walker because of his takeoff technique.  This is a hard wave on a sup because it sucks up and pitches right from the start.  He is making life difficult because he's not on the tail of the board at the take off.  But he's out there, that's the main thing; it' a nice wave.

Can only comment on the PSH board.  Yes it's a heavy one to get to the water but once there its a great all around board.  Flat water is ok as the liters compensate a bit for the rocker.  For the surf it's real loose for it's size.  Stable in chop and from micro waves to big Sunset like peaks, it does it all.  Hop back onto the rail over the fins, paddle stuck into the face and it even tube rides.  Good luck.

I'm 195lbs and ride both ends of the story.  My 115L feels the coolest walking out to the beach with, is the board that challenges my abilities the most, and is the most work in the water.  The 170L is a heavy lug to the beach, but after that- pure easy gliding joy, never falling and surfing all day.  Choices.

I guess there's a bit more room on the mountain.  But really we gotta watch out for getting thin skined on this standup hate crap.  Like has been frequently stated here, be respectful, aware of your abilities and enjoy the stoke of it all.

At a certain point the speed of the water sucking up the face exceeds the board's maximum, then the inevitable.  I could only then hope for them to stay in the pit or escape out the back.  At that point almost a russian roulette.

So to touch up the surface chips on my board a simple application of matching nail polish?  So simple, thanks.

Thanks for the post and beautiful picture of Doheny.  Give me some flat, preferably smooth water and getting on the board with a paddle is sublime pleasure.  I don't think it's age -though I got some of that.  I think it's the glide.  It's the common denominator for all the different branches of the SUP world.

The big ole fluid dreams boomerang that worked before on a prone longboard works as a single just fine for a 11' SUP in any size surf or flat.  Now I've been using a George Greenough stage 6 sort of hatchet boomerang with good results.  I think that any kind of fin will work in the center box.  Have fun with it.

The gift of surf, overhead and offshore, most of the local crew occupied, only 5 to 10 guys out and the family's blessings to go and get some.  Yesterday the same conditions and 100+ plus across the two peaks.  Seasons best to all you zoners.

51     A long prone career left me with blown shoulders and misformed neck.  Now, standing with this paddle, feel as if I'll keep it up till the end.  I look at the young crew with envy for having so many more paddleing years ahead of them.  The guys on the other end of the spectrum are an inspriation for what can be.

Hey SUS, enjoyed sharing your stoke.  Traveled there in the 80's for a few days looking for surf, not an easy find, but a beautiful island.  Just as you state- the reef decides. Sketchy and too shallow most places.  Ended up surfing some harbor mouth and a remote beach on the other side but never found the break you showed us.

I've got a carveboard -a large heavy set up with big inflatable tires- thats been collecting dust in the garage.  Was kinda over it due to the effort required to keep it move right.  They idea of skaddeling with some sort of big stick might just get me back on it.
