That combo, especially with the paddle is quite the deal.

Thanks for sharing the stoke Marc, Surf City living up to it's name.  This summer has been exceptionally wave rich and my Blane Chambers custom is getting lots of water time.  It looks like you have returned to form, good on ya.

High quality beachbreak zone that in september should be less busy, though not in the water.  The waves more the hollow types so a shortboard would do.

Good to hear you are rockin Cook.  The paddle love from Burchas is amazing.  The new paddles out there are great at a disgusting price.
And that root invader was next level, yikes.  On paddle length I find about eye forehead head easy on the shoulders.

Cook I am sorry to hear that your body isn’t quite on board with the continuance of the stoke chase.  Seems like a lot of wise advice to try out so don’t stop now.  Biggest key to keeping it going is to keep going.  Pauses at our advanced ages are a killer.
That Riv seems like a perfect candidate. New sticks are always a treat but times are tough.  Most important is to get out on the water however possible and mother ocean will give you what you need.

Nice surfing and an enjoyable edit.  Thanks.  So I guess now the plan is to just not stop surfing until ya can't.  And that with any luck is still a ways out.

SUP General / Re: santa cruz - the hook - first bad SUP experience

Last time I was at the hook there was actually a SUP surfer being a pig.  He was back paddling everyone to the peak grabbing one for himself from every set.
Funny but somebody said he was actually a local cop.  Luckily there was a nice swell running so I just moved south a bit.

General Discussion / Re: 4/3 Wetsuit - 2023?
« on: June 02, 2023, 12:51:44 PM »
For me the ripcurl no zip flashbomb is the best suit I have ever had.  It might be that I use three in rotation.  Although I do this for the luxury of dry gear on the cold season's early morning sessions, it must help longevity.  they are a 4/3 a 3/2 and a full 2.  The full 2 gets an under layer 1mil shorts and shirt if needed.

So that's it, 3 winters no leaks, all good as new.

Thanks Cook for helping me keep up the stoke. Very nice vid with great chill tunes.
The solo shot really does the job well when it works.

In a funny different way I love winter surf. Summer is of course tops but the winter is a another flavor. Of course it is mostly the smaller crowd which is more of a brotherhood in the winter. And after a good session there is more feeling of accomplishment than in the warmth of the summer.

I have found that by getting lots of quality rubber on and remaining warm before the session are the keys to keeping it fun and doable.

Thanks LB for sharing the early dawn wave moments.

The magic is a joy. And for sometimes it is the only way to get the spot uncrowded.

Those are some cool drone shots. A fresh vantage point.

Yes the North Atlantic is alive and well as the fall begins!

Thanks for the share. Very nice boards, a flat water glider is still just a dream for me. Beautiful water shots.

Random / Re: wetsuit locker for van camper
« on: August 26, 2022, 01:39:32 PM »
The box mounted on the back door of my van was initially for cadac bbq and propane storage.  Actually I have mostly been using it as wet wetsuit storage and drying spot.
Though the suits eventually dry, I have found that the function of moving the smell and humidity of wet wetsuits outside very handy for van life.
A planned further addition of a exterior bar on the box’s door will better the drying action when conditions allow.
