I haven’t paddled the M-14 in the Gorge but I have done many runs in Greece almost in every downwind condition. Comparing to Rail it is a bit slower in smaller bumps but generally goes very well. And as the wind picks up it goes better and better. I have seen footage from the Gorge and I believe that this board would fly in these bumps. If I could afford many boards it would have a place in my quiver for sure. Here is a small video from a run some time ago. Hope this helps.

Nice vid dk, looked like fun conditions and cool to hear about some runs on the Downtown.
Last weekend at the Malibu Downwinder race, Candice took 1st on the flat deck Downtown and Dave podiumed on the dugout version. I heard they were flying and the boards worked really well. Here’s a shot of Dave & Candice heading out.
Thank you all for the comments. I am sure they were flying on the Downwtown Kayadogg

Thanks! I always appreciate your downwind vids.
Was your friend on the 27" version of the same board?
Have you ridden the 27"?
I'm always on the lookout for the holy grail of a board that both performs well downwind and is fast on the flats. And is in the 27'-28' range.
Thanks Dusk Patrol. Yes, he was on the same board, the Downtown Flatdeck. I haven't ridden the 27" yet. My friend says that it is very stable and glides very well. On the next downwinder I will try it and I will inform you.

I haven’t tried it in heavy downwind conditions yet (30+ knots) but on 20-25 knots it is the fastest board I have ever had for sure. Very good stability for 25” and it is fantastic on the flats too. It is a very good allrounder and goes very fast on the bumps. The Rail in the other hand it is one of my favourite boards of all time and I wasn’t sure if I would like to make the change but so far I very happy with my choice.
Ok that is a strong endorsement.
Yes Luc, it is a good investment!

Cool looking board DK Glad you dig it. 2 thing I’ve noticed that wanted to get your feedback:
Comparing to your videos with the Rail, this one seems more jittery When you surf it, wondering how would you compare to the Rail standing On the tail?
The other thing, it seems like your are paddling more than you do with the Rail, Do you ever take gps reading to compare?
If I’m not mistaken, your DW season is just around the corner, hope to see some more great vids.
Thx. Keep them coming
Hi Burchas, yes you are right. It is more jittery when you are on the tail. When I am on the board and specially on the tail I see that I have to be more relaxed as I was with Rail. It is not something to worry about thought. It is 25” wide, the narrowest board so far for me and the tail is a lot narrower also comparing to the Rail. So it needs more practise but when I am on board and on the runners it does not feel uncomfortable. Now about your second observation. What I’ve seen with this board is that it is a lot easier to jump over the bumps and go for the next one in front of me and it’s something that I did a few times, for example at the 1:20 mark. For the last 6 years I have recorded every single run and this board is very fast, believe me. It is different from the Rail and to other downwind boards that I had all these years but I like this change. And as you said the downwind season is around the corner so more videos coming soon.
Thank you for your comments.

Yesterday was a very nice day for downwind paddling. It was warm, the wind was blowing 20-25knots and the bumps were fun. I was on the 14'x25" Infinity Downwtown and my friend was on the 27". Such a fantastic board. Hope you like the short video.

Hi Dusk Patrol,
I own the New Deal 9x28 and I am super happy with the board. Very light, great construction and when on a wave it is simply fantastic. I would say, go with the New Deal, this board is something special.
