Great, thanks!

Are you part of the greater edmonton SUP league? If so how do you find it? I'd be curious to know what your experience has been like. Is it always the same venues or do the venues change?

Can anyone give me an idea of where I can locate information on all SUP events in Interior BC this year?

My wife and I are hoping to plan a trip to one and I'm having trouble finding any info. at all.

You have an interesting interpretation of my posts DW and for the record I disagree with your opinion.

Good to make someone new to the forum feel welcome though.

I'm not here to rag on anyone so I'll just say thanks for the feedback everyone and be done with this thread.

Thanks for the feedback and info. Even if nothing gets started this year don't hesitate to reach out to me when you're back in town, I'd love to hook up and go for a paddle.

If anything starts up I'll be sure to post the details on this site.

Ride on brother!

If I tell you JL is best, and all the rest are inferior, will you stop posting baited questions.

Wow DW, I thought this was an open forum not a judge and jury......I'm brand new to the sport and am trying to understand it and the construction of boards better. Just because I ride a JL board it doesn't mean I'm looking for any specific answer, just responses that are genuine and informative.

You can keep opinions like that to yourself thanks.

I appreciate the feedback from the rest of you.

Do all boards have reinforced fin boxes? If not which ones do and does it make much of a difference?

Are there different styles of reinforced fin boxes?

There is no replacement for having your own board.....I try to take mine wherever I travel. The only issue is size restrictions and price with the airline you are flying with.

My boards have always arrived in good condition when I've traveled with them however the cost is starting to get prohibitive for me. I'm traveling to Mexico over christmas and American Airlines is charging $200 for my boards and that is only 1 way!!!!

I bite the bullet because as I mentioned above....there is no replacement for having your own equipment however I'm starting to second guess myself based on the cost.

Hope that helps, have fun wherever you go

SUP General / What are you looking for in a SUP Club?
« on: December 06, 2012, 08:12:22 AM »
Hi zoners,

I'm looking to build the stoke for SUP in my area by starting a SUP club in my home city and am looking for some advice. Have any of you started a club or are you members of a club in your city?

What are you looking for in a SUP club? What's important to you? Do you want merchandise to show your relationship to a club? Do you want regularly scheduled outings? Do you want a variety of activities (ie. Flat water, river running, races, yoga etc..).

Are there any major roadblocks you have experienced that I should be aware of (ie. insurance etc...)?

Any feedback is welcome.

Thanks and ride hard!

Canadian Prairies / SUP Club in Calgary

Hi all,

Easy Rider has done an incredible job growing the SUP culture up in Edmonton and I would like to try to model his work in Calgary. I am considering starting up a SUP club to organize trips down the bow river and into the Kananaskis lakes starting in the spring.

Are there any zoners from Calgary that have similar interests? If so what would you like to see in a local SUP club?

Thanks in advance.  ;D

That's nice work getting out when it's freezing over. Tryin real hard not to fall in I guess.

Do you have any recommendations for Canadian winter SUP gear. I want to continue riding all year but I also don't want to die if I fall in.

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

Great shots......looks like you're tearing it up out there.

I spent some time at Playa Maderas down there (the one with the fin shaped rock just outside of San Juan del Sur) and it was epic. I reinforce your sentiments that Nicaragua is one of those countries that should be visited sooner rather than later.

Reminds me of Costa 10yrs ago.

Ride on!
