SUP Gear Reviews / Newly Acquired / On Order / Jimmy Lewis Destroyer
« on: June 22, 2019, 05:37:22 AM »
So after some back and forth with Jimmy and a much anticipated wait I have recieved my new board! Jimmy Lewis Destroyer, 7’7” x 29” at 100 ltrs. Absoulutely exactly what I was looking for. Nice full nose coming back to pin tail. This will be my main got to board as it should handle any conditions we get here in FL. It has a nice flat deck, comfy looking pad, weighs nothing and the fit and finish of everything is absolutley amazing. Not only did I want the dimensions of this board but also wanted the bomber construction these boards have a reputation for. Military guy and definetly on a budget, this is the first board I have bought brand new and I had to buy it sight unseen so I was very nervous. But after everything I could not be happier and look forward to many fun years with her!

Okay, 2 fins and a uv/sun cover. Carbon paddle, Dakine waist pfd and leash. $400 if you bring a good 6 pack. 12 pack and $350 if it goes to a good kid. $300 and your best case for everything (or rum, rum is good). Good starter pack for someone. Okay just bring me your best case of beer and favorite rum and it’s yours as long as it keeps the stoke going

The Shape Shack / Re: What are the limits of step rails?
« on: March 25, 2019, 05:51:58 PM »
Just sold my Sunova Shroom (regrettably) and I think it would be hard to find a more extreme  stepped rail design. Mine was 7’9” at 104ltrs, and at 195lbs it was extremely  stable. Rails completely underwater with a bit of water on deck. Enough displacement to float while keeping super thin rails in a very compact design. And the best part was no domed deck wrecking knees and ankles. In fact the most comfortable deck to stand on I’ve owned and absolutely contributed to its stability the way you can lock your feet in. https://youtu.be/Ciyx5V43Cxw

It's a good board. I really liked the feel of it. Unfortunately not a lot of takers for 23.5" even though with the right fin it would be stable for the width.
Super stable for its width! I have gone from 26” to 24.5” and this board at 23.5” has been the most stable by far. Regularly take it for ocean paddles and surfing with no issues.

Oh man that 7’7” is exactly what I’m looking for. Nice shape, just the dimensions I’ve been looking for and the reviews on sea breeze are very promising. Shhh...don’t let my wife know!

Have not tried that one but have a Lahui-kai O2 air-weight paddle from Sup-Atx. Lightest paddle I think you’ll find anywhere, great quality and only 200 bucks free shipping. Nice flex shaft, very comfortable

Technique / Re: How to put a handle on with hot glue?
« on: October 23, 2018, 02:26:15 PM »
Surf paddles, race paddles, either one I have never glued. Wrap nice and tight with good electrical tape. Never had one come loose, never had any issues. I change out maybe once or twice a year. No heat, no glue, easy peezy.
