I sat with my financial guy just a couple of weeks ago and he asked me this very question. At age 62, I really don't have a good answer, I like what I do and the people are great. I suppose there is a certain insecurity and even possibly a fear of missing out in leaving the routine. How silly is that...

I thought this was interesting (and surprising) from Jannik Linder, Gitnux, Market Data Report 2024:
The global SUP market was estimated to be worth $2.6 billion in 2023. The global stand-up paddleboard market is projected to grow at a rate of approximately 7% between 2021 and 2026.
My personal experience, here on the Jersey Shore, is that while there are not many new SUP ers, we haven't really lost any either. Personally I've plateaued in my ability and preferences, and I've settled into equipment that work well for me, so it's hard to get exited about new stuff. That of course is subject to change...

Really liking the versatility of the R2 drop glass in the rear hatch - great for boards and dogs. The 100% drop on the rear door glass is also a great touch.

A reasonable color match from a can was Rustoleum Universal, Canary Yellow for the earlier Naish boards.
BTW - 3x6oz for this repair would be plenty in my book. Great to see that the Board Lady is still getting recognition for her excellent guidance in composite repairs.

Wax that nose and grab some tip time - great score Marc!
(And, if you are not into that retro Kialoa oval shafted Methane I might know an interested party.)

We might not be able to surf form dawn to dusk anymore, but we can be selective with our waves and approach, and surf forever.

I’m another 200lb, 10 x 27 NewDeal rider and can only offer that my next closest board, 10 x 28.5 StyleMaster is a significantly more stable outline for simply standing in the lineup. Looking forward to hearing how the “pool test” turns out.

Hey NW, here is pretty good video on pop ups from a fellow NJ longboarder, Brian James. In this video he is actually focusing on a pop up similar to Haleys.
I find his videos entertaining and informative. And yes, he is as personable in person as he seems in his videos.

Great stuff SC! You might just motivate me to do a PR trip during "tax-season".
I'm wondering if you have considered the "upgrade service" for your Soloshot. Apparently the $499 upgrade provides "single spin calibration with no recalibration to no warmup or walkabout. I would say the calibration of the SS is the factor that keeps mine at home. I would like to hear your thoughts.

That's a great cautionary tale BW, thanks! (I should be close to the end of my current passport and heading to Lofoten in a few months.) What's the consensus on adding the passport card? In NJ (as with some other states), access to Real Id compliant licenses is a struggle to say the least. And Marc, that picture is suitable for framing

It's very subjective, in my case (at 195lbs 5'10") I find my 7'10" x 30.5" 110 L Phoenix (Simons shape) easily as stable as my 10' x 27" 122 L New Deal. This is primarily because the Simons shape spreads out the volume with a wide tail, parallel rails and lower rocker (like a sheet of plywood).
A 7'9" with a more pulled in tail, nose and more rocker would definitely be more difficult to balance initially, but at your weight and height should be totally doable.

Feinstein, Grassley, Shelby, Inhofe and Leahy, are "living" proof that Americans can perform mundane jobs well into their 80's. Seriously, the average age of a Senator is 63. 20% are over 70. Crap, now I can't remember what my point was...never mind.
