NorthEast / Thanksgiving Day Race in RI

This just showed up on Facebook. I'll be there. Should be a blast.

Eastern Surfing Association is sponsoring it's first ever Thanksgiving SUP Race at the Narrow River Kayak on Narrow River. Race time is 10 AM. $35.00 entry fee. Trophies to ALL racers. Sign ups are from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Three divisions for women and three divisions for men! No pre-entries. What you see is what you get. Burn some calories and then eat them back later. In case of crazy weather, paddle race will be ON CALL for November 27th after 6 PM. Call the ESA hotline at 401-789-1954. All email riders will be notified for any changes in the program.

NorthEast / Downwinder

Short notice but...
Looks like there will be both strong winds and decent swell coming from the south this weekend starting tomorrow. Add warm water and you've got the main ingredients of a southern New England version of a Hawaiian downwinder.
I have had a SIC Bullet 14 for 6 weeks now and have yet to get out in wind and swell. That changes tomorrow. I will be doing a down wind run from Sakonnet harbor in Little Compton both Friday and Saturday. I am thinking of starting around 8 or 9 but can hold off if anyone wants to come and needs time to drive. The total run up the river will be 8 1/2 miles to the take out.
Let's get this New England downwind thing going!

Sessions / New paddle paddle

Picked up a new Ke Nalu paddle yesterday and named her Miss K. Took it for a test paddle right away in the first swell we've seen since Thanksgiving. Documented the maiden trip and edited up a little clip. Somewhere in Rhode Island....

Events / Buzzard's Bay Classic

Anyone in the Cape Cod/RI area sign up for this one this Saturday? http://ospreyseakayak.com/races/buzzards-bay-classic/ I just signed up for the 3 miler, short I know but I want to see what that distance is like after doing a 9 and a 6 already this spring.
