Not to hijack but I'm also looking to either trade my BSC890 for a PNG910 or just flat out buy a used PNG910.

910 still available?

I'm not sure about the carbon masts but I seem to remember reading that the Axis foils are actually fiberglass where they come in contact with the fuse to avoid galvanic (?) corrosion. If true, I thought that was pretty clever.

Classifieds / Axis BSC890 $500
« on: August 23, 2022, 06:50:52 AM »
Selling my Axis BSC890 foil as it has too much overlap with my other foils and hasn't been getting used very much. Wing is in excellent shape (see pictures). If you're not familiar with this foil, you'll find it has a cult following due to its ability to do it all. Foil cover and M6 screws included. The 890 uses an M6 screw that is not included (or didn't used to be) in the standard screw set.  Buyer to pay shipping and I'm located in South Carolina.

OK, now you have me wondering, what tail wings do you ride with 999 & 1099 to keep them special?

I've been winging the 999 with the 375p tail with good results and will be looking to try a 325p (or even 300p) to see how it affects turns and stability at speed.

I've been happy with my Ride Engine Vinaka harness. Here's what I like about it:
- easy to slide bar to the side when I need to paddle the board
- easy to slide the bar to ride hooked in on toeside
- two d-rings (one on either side) which I use for my board leash and maybe someday for my wing leash

Not much to dislike. I have also tied a 4-5' piece of spectra between the d-rings in case I need to tie something up like my wing, etc.

Almost 3 years of winging and never punctured a wing but I did do this to a new board recently by being stupid AND hitting a fish. Can anyone tell by the pic how my stupidity came in to play?

Does your leash have a rail saver? I went with the Creatures of Leisure Foil Coil leash. I attach it to the back of my harness and remove the rail saver from the board when not riding. It's short enough that it stays out of the water but long enough when I crash that it's not a pain to untangle myself. Make sure your leash string is short so the rail saver is what comes in contact with the rail.

Cool to see more races popping up. Even better that it is a series. Well done.

Now if only the folks here in Charleston could rally more than once a year (F2B).

Higher aspect is what makes foils glide farther, and giving you more time to fumble with your wing handling and come away on foil.

I’m not saying you need true high aspect, just big wings that are higher in aspect than the older, out dated wings.

The Armstrong mast is not stiff enough for the 2400. It causes instability. Not great for newer wingers.

Demo the Axis BSC-1060. Everyone is different, this might be the magic sauce for you.

100% agree with Dwight. I started my winging journey with the Slingshot Infinity 76 after figuring it out behind the boat. I struggled mightily for a few months as it was heavy and not enough foil for the moderate winds I was going out in. I made the jump to the Axis BSC1060 and it was a gamechanger. Plenty of lift, stable  and very well behaved. I have thought about selling it but dusted it off for a super light (8-10kt) session recently and was able to ride while many stayed on the beach.

I was on the fence about just buying the Infinity 99 front wing but I'm so glad I went with the entire Axis setup.

How would you compare the 830 to either the 799 or 899 in terms of speed?  Currently riding the 999 as my higher wind foil but starting to look for the next foil in the quiver.

I have the 6m CWC and find that it is really easy to pack up compared other wings I've ridden (takuma, ozone, duotone unit v2) as the center strut deflates quickly with the dump valve and there are no windows to worry about.

Here are the steps I use to pack up quickly:
1. open main valve and cover up with neoprene cover to avoid sand intrusion
2. open center strut dump valve
3. gently roll the center strut from the tip towards the leading edge of wing
4. close dump valve after all center strut air is out
5. unroll center strut so that wing is flat
6. grab the wing tip on the side with the main valve and fold wing in half
7. push air out of both "mini struts"
8. roll both wing tips together towards the main strut and then on top of main strut
9. fold a few times (3 or 4)
10. lightly wrap leash and throw it in the bag

This doesn't answer/solve your question about how to keep air in the center strut but after a few times, this method is pretty easy.

Pretty amazing foil that does it all:
- Light wind: you can really muscle this foil up if need be (not so easy on the other lines)
- Surf: carves and turns well
- Speed: decent given everything else it does well

If I had to live with one foil, this would be it.

(I wasn't paid for this promotion. ha)

I tried ZEF for a while (free) and found that while I like it more than Watersports, it was slightly more expensive which pushed me to Watersports.

I had my first session on the 2022 Duotone unit.  The handles are really great, and the wing goes upwind like crazy.  Coming from the Slick the unit handles are a good compromise, though some of my boom habits don't transfer.  Namely grabbing right in between the handles.

I, too, just had my first session on the Duotone Unit v2 (4m) and the handles are fantastic. I had gotten used to my F-one Strike CWC 6m handles but the rigid ones on the Unit are great.

The inflation system leaves something to be desired when compare to the Strike. For example, the neoprene cover over the valve on the Strike is really good for keeping blowing sand out of the valve. You'd think every wing (my old Wasp had this) would have this type of protection.

Upwind performance is excellent given the wing shape and extremely rigid canopy.

Not a fan of the windows as they force me to move the wing into position to see through them when it is just easier to lift the wing up. That being said, I don't ride where there are many other people. Once I get the steps down in terms of deflating and putting the wing away, perhaps I won't mind the windows so much.
