@HDIP re Lift 150HA -  All the lift HAs are 37 in wide and pretty much the same shape (just more or less chord).  If ever there was a wing that i didn't need to lay eyes on before riding it, its that one.

Classifieds / WTB GoFoil 29.5" plate mast

looking for a gofoil mast.  29.5 plate.

I'll give an opposite take...i run a super small mast and i love it.  I run a 68cm (26.5) mast on my GoFoil RS 1000 for both prone and ding and its excelent.  I find its super fast turning and i can whip into turns better than most.  Its a good fit for the smaller span front wing (RS1000 is pretty short mid aspetct and is my 100% wing for prone and ding)...I'm big at 215 lbs but very physical in my riding and power generation.

I always ran the small mast prone for the turns, stiffness, and direct feel and i assumed i'd have to move to the bigger mast (29.5) for ding and prone and still be comprimised on the ding.  After a few months on the ding i've really dialed my style to the short mast and i love it and its given me a really unique style, there's nobody at the local who rides like me.

The good - All turns all the time, Active, Dynamic, Lots of feedback from the wave, whippier turns, more direct feel.

The bad - Reacting to all that feedback is tiring, doing that number of turns is tiring, doesn't want to go for long tacks(goes upwind fine but i have a hard time hooking in for a long one).  Its EXHAUSTING(which I personally LOVE but probably bad for most).  The ding is way more work than Prone.  I can only really keep at my full pace for maybe 2 hours max.

Do you want to feel the movement of the ocean and react to it more?..go smaller...
Do you want to feel like your riding on an invisible traintrack just under the surface?...go bigger.

Classifieds / WTB Broken carbon mast
« on: July 20, 2022, 03:52:51 PM »
Looking for a carbon mast to re-purpose for a budget way to try a buddy's front wing.  Ideally something with a good plate thats messed up at the fuse connection.  I know there's a moses somewhere that fits the bill.  Looking for atleast 28" or 70cm of useable length.  Willing to spend $200 for the right piece.

So when you do that overlap, the piece going on top is going to get sanded where it steps down on the edge of the bottom piece, creating a weak line in the middle of the board where most strength is needed.

Also, making boards is hard enough with good materials.  Also the glass is the cheapest part of a very expensive process.  Trying to save money there is unbelievably shortsighted.

Use those piece for foot patches in top of a solid base.

Worth noting wind swell is a lot slower than long period ground swell.

Any time I do a foil transaction I include a phone call.  It’s hard to fake being totally foil brained.  Also keeps you from accidentally selling to a kook.

Thanks for the fantastic responses!  I’ll probably DM some folks when I’m up there to hopefully grab a session with a crew while I’m there!  Post session refreshments on ne!  (This is the way)

Planning my annual family trip to maine - switching from central maine to Portland area.  My central Maine spot was Popham, which was a solid spot for a few different swell directions.  Looking for some southern Maine guidance.  I'll be there for a few weeks.  Advanced prone and dinger.

For surf i can figure out what beaches there when there's swell etc.  For Ding can i just hop down one of the portland area boat ramps like casco bay and go for a sail?  Thanks for the heads up!

I'll add that i will of course act as an ambasador of the sport with the highest respect for local rules and the safety of other water users.  I'll treat all spots with the respect i'd treat my home break.  (I know i'm a real prick when someone shows up at my spot and even comes close to fucking it up for the rest of us)

Foil SUP / Re: A few questions?

70 is perfect. I wouldn’t go any smaller.    I run a 26.5 but know others on 28 and 30.  I think the longer like 80cm masts are too much because the foil is a little farther from the surface energy and it’s just more mast to flex and more to swing in turns.
