Piros,  I wonder, given that everything moves at the speed of light, that anyone should now add 18mos to any product?  Clearly, someone with capital and access to a PHD or two can improve on this...  Poor bugger who invested his last few years in this is doomed..if v2 is not released in 90days.  Look at FLIP ..getting bulldozed by GoPro. (with Cisco's incompetence as a leg up)

It's a Slingy-Wingy.  They always do interesting stuff but never seem to break thru to the top tier of visibility. They don't seem to do a lot of that self-serving, aggro marketing that other companies in the same markets do.   When was the the last time someone mentioned their boards SUP here?

Creek,  You laugh but I actually sewed a line of  bug suits (following the adage: "Do what you know best.") but if you thought surf shops were poor pay ...beach stores have no $ at all.   I kept some for myself.  With a Permethrin treated suit I can actually work outside during the 'season'.

Twitchy,  I forgot Jellies... Yeech!    Jim

I live off Chesapeake Bay and simply cannot think about paddling out back this time of year. Shore locals have given it the Latin name: May Fly ..because they appear in...  We are also large fans of Mossies, Chicken House Flies and Greenheads.  About mid-July you can pretty much paddle without a bug suit.

Oooops ..my apology to JD.  I'm not going to buy one, but I freaked at the possibilities.  ..put the transceiver on a hunting dog.. or whatever?!  Too cool.

As someone who carried around a Rolleiflex in the Army ..small POV cams are a wonder ..but this is like a tab of acid.  Wait 'till you see it splash!  Jim

I like Solar Rez type products because I am impatient, but Harbor Freight has 3oz A/B epoxy that I tested directly on EPS with no issues  ...plus it's crystal clear compared to Solar ...1/2 the cost.

SUP General / Re: Downwind Board + Skate Sail = Possible?
« on: May 13, 2015, 02:51:26 PM »
Eric,  Those come-n-go about the same rotation as plaid pants for the last 75yrs around Wisconsin and Minnesota.  You'd have a helluva time dealing with power spikes and a rolling board at the same time.  You'll notice the skate's sail is anchored. They make stoopid little sails for kayaks that are about as useful as 'tits on a bull', as they used to say back home.

The one on ice works with speed skates .. black ice .. and 5kts.  There's little friction so the illusion of speed at 'not much real speed' is enhanced.  Even a teeny little iceboat can have you wet your pants.

Make one before you buy one.

The Shape Shack / Finding matching paint for a repair...
« on: May 11, 2015, 07:32:22 AM »
Creek told me about Naish yellow.. "To fix my Mana, I was happy with the yellow color match I got with:
Krylon Colormaster (paint+Primer) "Sun Yellow" (Gloss)"

...but, I found (while looking for UV protected Clear) this source for custom mixed 2K colors.  If you don't have the need for a compressor and all the other stuff associated with shooting paint, this is about as close to real as you can get.  You simply need to find a matching auto paint color:  'Lexus Uptight Orange' ..whatever?!

http://www.66autocolor.com/Automotive-Spray-Paint-Spray-Max-2K-Aerosol-p/spm2k-custompaint.htm

Your local auto body paint supplier may also have the machine to make rattle cans ..'save the shipping.

Gear Talk / Re: How bad could a $450 board be? (that was $1800?)
« on: May 07, 2015, 04:59:51 AM »
... if they won't get a pic for you - 'sure a hell not going to find a scale to put it on.   Question: if you have to go get it anyway ...is 3.5hrs more or less time?   I'd carry a scale and would pass if it's full of water.  You can fix a lot of cosmetic damage easily/cheap.

Looks nice Adam.  I got to test paddle one of those Zephyrs beaner mentioned..  Similar reaction to your test. Stable as the sidewalk but could motor with a little muscle behind it.  Looks a good buy for the use.  Jim
