The Shape Shack / Snapped my paddle
« on: October 04, 2016, 06:26:53 PM »
I was surfing yesterday 2-3' sand bar peaks and had a little snafu. Late drop wipe out and snap. I jumped back aboard and my paddle blade was in two pieces. Not quite sure hat did it?
Any other guys had similar issues? I was bummed, but did have a back up for the next session. Same paddle blade re-glued and back in action.

I've got 2 nice condition custom boards ready to sell. I've got other boards I have been riding, so I'm selling these boards made by Ed Angulo and glassed in the Cannibal CorVac facility if FL. the 7'10" is a Fish tail 30.5 x 115L and the 8'4" x 31" x 122L Swallow tail, both boards are very light and strong. I will be happy to send picks and more info to anyone interested and possibly trade for another board, flat water of HP SurfSUP. I've got boxes and can ship with Pilot Air or others?
Please no super low balls etc.
PM Me
Thanks,
FM

Travel, Trips, Destinations / New Zealand

New Zealand has been a blast!
My wife and I are going on are 4th week in NZ.
We have surfed in Tairua, Whangamata, Gizborne at multiple spots, Raglan, Ahipara and Ninety Mile Beach. I haven't been able to post picks as it says they are to large, but I have gotten tons of picks. It truly is land of the lefts. Other than a right point break near Gisborne we have surfed mostly all lefts!
I've got picks on my Instagram if any one is interested in seeing some nice waves in NZ.
Thanks,
Fanman

Fun waves the last couple mornings and it is suppose to continue!
I had a chance to get my new 7'10" in some fun and fast waves. The water is 71 and air was 63, but with the sunshine I was nice and toasty. The crowd was minimal, I got out at 8:30 and still just a hand full of guys spread out nicely 8)

My wife and I were thinking Costa Rica, but New Zealand has been on my bucket list for a long time and needed to be crossed off 1st.
We are heading there mid Feb - mid March. So far we booked the last week at Ahipara in the Northland. We are open to some suggestions for areas with some SUP friendly surfing!
Thanks,

« on: September 13, 2015, 03:52:09 PM »
My buddy broke the nose off of his Nugg and wanted to throw it away, so I convinced him to let me turn into a Tomo nose!
We will see how it works and keep you posted!

Travel, Trips, Destinations / Costa Rica mid Feb. to Mid March?
« on: September 06, 2015, 10:11:04 AM »
Where to SUP surf in CR where it's not to crowded? I need a mix of waves so my wife can also hang in the surf. She's a capable intermediate SUPer and surfer.
Nosarra or further South or two stopping spots?
Any advice would be appreciated. Not wanting to break the bank but can afford $3k + for a month or so, + food etc!
Thanks,
Fanman

I just picked up my custom 7'10' x 30.7" x 116L board today. I had my 8.2" that I loved scaled down, with a little larger swallow tail and razor sharp tail edges. I put it to the work in some bumpy afternoon chest high waves. I think it was almost as stable as my 8'2", a little looser and definitely a bit lighter and easy to throw around. 7'10" is on the left and a 7.6" x 28" is the one on the right.
I think it is a winner!  :D
I'll keep those interested posted!
Thx,
FM

Ed Angulo has been hard at work, he just made 9 boards varying from 7'2" - 10'6"! He has recently moved to FL. and is dialing in what is going to work here on the East Coast. With many years shaping in the Islands he has been refining shapes for a long time. He is a pleasure to work with and I am really stoked how my mini quiver came out! The boards are strong and light. I rode the 7'2" Minion Style today in shoulder high wind slop and had a blast! Can't wait for tomorrow!  :)
I will keep you posted on how they ride!
Board specs:
7'2" x 28 1/4" 105L and 8'2" x 31" 110L
I am weighing in at 175lbs and 55 yrs. young

SUP Gear Reviews / Newly Acquired / On Order / New Naish 7'10" LE
« on: September 25, 2014, 05:18:54 PM »
It's been a while since I oderd a production board, but I am excited to give this one a go! I think it will work well in East Coast beach break conditions for me. I've been riding similar size for a while with a few less Ltrs and a bit narrower. I'm hoping to be able to ride this on most days including back wash, side wash and chop. I've been using a 8'4" x 31" custom for those conditions and my smaller board stays on the side line until it cleans up. At 121 Ltrs it has plenty of float!
I am 55' 170 lbs on my 4th year SUPing and surfing Prone since I was a tad pole.
The 2014 models are on sale and got a great deal from my local shop, plus they come with a nice bag, so all and all it is close to the price of a top of the line custom! Hopefully it wil perform and work out just right?
I will keep you posted!
