If I had nothing else to do it’d be interesting to cut the 1099 and retape it so it has the 1095 gull wing shape.

I have a cedrus but it’s short for small wave prone, and I found the weight savings over aluminum to not be worth it, which is what I gather is the case with axis carbon too. At least with NL you get a way lighter setup in exchange for less stiffness. “ It won’t be anytime soon. I’m just a one person shop trying to get the current orders under control.” -Jim on June 30 18

Anyone try the no limitz masts for axis? I’m flirting with expanding beyond takuma into axis and love those masts, and wonder how to wu compare to the new axis. Probably lighter?

A foil is a foil and a wing is a wing. One word for each. Yes! And a standard for +/- tail shimming too please. Before I learned to tack (I’m at 50% toe side now), I lent a 2022 unit to a friend who says tacking with his own wings is ruined for him now. I tried pushing the back of the strut over but it doesn’t work/need it. Just forget it is the beta. 21

I’ve had a few sessions on the d lab 6, more on the normal ones. I also came from the x wings, but I feel like the handles are perfectly balanced unlike the x wings. I also feel like the range on my one dlab seems insane, and had me thinking about a 4.5/6 dlab quiver of two, if I could sell my SWX quiver maybe I would!

Since I have Armstrong boards I’d previously thought about how they and the kalama shape are different ways to achieve the same ends. Moving the tracks forward allows the tail rocker to be gentle enough to not grab the water when touching at speed like a flat tail, but still get near or at the surface when slogging, so you aren’t making an eddie. I’ve never sup’d either or used a kalama so idk how they compare in either respect. I’m sure the kalama is a faster paddler…. Although I think if I made a kalama rip off I’d fade in a release edge (maybe 0.5cm deep) towards the back end, so water really can’t get sucked around the angle when touching.

Wingsurfing, Windfoiling, Wingfoiling, Wing SUP / Re: requesting light wind jibing help« on: May 29, 2022, 08:24:45 AM »
I’ve been wondering if it’s possible to “tack” the wing through a jibe in very light wind. Get going as fast as you can in a puff, as you come out jibe(but passing wing over head like a tack) in the lull, get back in the puff as you come out. Haven’t nailed my normal tacks yet so just theoretical for me. As for your question, I find rigid handles let to hold the wing horizontal, so when the wind briefly reverses the wing just passes through it. Also, on both jibes I extend my hand out forward/outside of turn, then at that critical moment whip it across to the new front hand, so the apparent wind the wing experiences switches immediately from one side to another. Like a mini Heineken.

I just took a look at my Dacron 5m unit while packing it up yesterday and didn’t see anything I didn’t like. I’ve used my 6m dlab once in very variable conditions and thought it handled everything well. That said, for me too 6 m is my limit, since I feel like pumping gets awkward even at 6. With a given board/foil/skill, it seems like one needs a given pressure in the handles to get up. Is that pressure from a better wing, or a stronger wind? It would be interesting to integrate an anemometer that keeps a record to compare with a video or even a track on a very light day. That’s seems like the best way to really see which is best.

I grew up across the way in pawtuxet cove, but live in Maine now, that’d be so fun to do sometime!

I wonder if UNDER-inflating would make that failure more likely, as opposed to over-inflation. Maybe think about how one folds the strut when packing it. I also wonder if they’ll give us d-lab replacements!😎

Agree with above, and:
Back cove and east end beach are popular flat water windsurfing/ding spots and good for a short window. 28

A couple of qustions I'm hoping you can help with. I use the leashes from my reedin wings. I don’t like those curly leashes they have since it would be uncomfortable to have them in your hand with the handle. I have a mystic pump that came with an adapter that works fine. I guess I got lucky. I was out yesterday in 8-11, and got up fine with the 5. Waiting on allula 6, but I wonder if 1/2 size down would have been perfect. But it’s light in maine in summer and the dlab 6 should be a weapon. 29
Wingsurfing, Windfoiling, Wingfoiling, Wing SUP / Tracking apps?« on: April 25, 2022, 03:36:15 AM »
A search for "tracking apps” yielded nothing so here goes. I’m often seeing folks posting their tracks from apps if not seen before, and wonder if they work better than the ones I’ve used, which are:
Watersports Tracker: works ok, and collates data so I can see how much I’ve gotten out over the month etc, but red is fast and green is slow for some reason, and it takes about two minutes to successfully press the stop button. WorkOutDoors: cool, techy looking screen, colors make sense, easy to turn it off on the Apple Watch, but doesn’t organize data Anyone like another option? 30
