I'm still using mine, repaired one of the blade last year.  Having try other paddle since this shaft solve my shoulder issue when I was using a stiffer shaft.

You can get free carbon arrow shafts if you going to archery range or shops, people usually throw it in the trash when it snap or crack.

Thanks for the reference.  Really good podcast on the cf construction and design.  I grew up during the cycling carbon monocoque era(Zipp and Trek Y frame) and got super interest in composite process and love of cycling.   But I'm not that good in my math to be a ME but I'm glad Kyle is using his knowledge to redesign the mast.

I only have experience with old starboard pro(7'4 and 8'0) and the infinity blur v1(7'6).  In term of performance, infinity wins on the surf.  It turns better and it just feel better on the surf.  But my starboard have bomber construction(both full carbon and the regular fiberglass construction), haven't snap a starboard in half yet.  But seems like the opposite for your case.  I have broke the nose off on my infinity when it hit my shin.  I personally would go for the infinity but its hard to said unless you can demo both board side by side.

You already have the board, why not just give it a try.  Most people have issue with paddling a short sup because they don't have the j stroke master yet.  But doesn't seems like your case.  The only issue i see is there isn't much nose rocker, you might have to adjust your take off where you might have to put more weight on your rear foot to get the nose up a bit.  I convert my 6'8 surf sup (with plenty of nose rocker) into a 5'3 foil board and it took me a few session to adjust to the take off position(feet and wave position), you will need the wave to be steeper or get push by the white water to get enough speed to get on foil.  I think the 120L wingcraft with flat rocker will get you speed up faster than my continuous rocker.

I'm now at the point where I want my next board to be similar to Kalama E3 DW or the new Kalama Barracuda, long and ultra narrow.  My whole envisioning from the beginning of sup foiling is to catch unbroken wave(big or small) and the short wide foil sup isn't allow me to do that.  Again you should give your 120L board a try, it might take a few session to get dial but I think it will work.

Too bad I'm in socal and have no plan to drive up to SF yet but I would like to get it and reshape plus i have one of the older gofoil with the tuttle mast.  If this is still available in a few weeks, I will see if I can make a drive up there.

PonoBill, I was looking at LORA communication system too. I think its a great idea for DW were you can track and communicate with other people in your group plus there is no service fee.  I'm not a techie but seems like it not too hard to set it up, just need to figure a way to waterproof it.

Any update on the el cheapo foil drive?  Were you able to get it to foil with just pumping or you need a few hard strokes to get it on foil?

here is another option using underwater scooter, just need make mount or possible bolt it directly on to the foil mast.  Looks like have less range 30-45min and 3mph top speed.  But you don't have to deal with wiring or battery pack and put the weight right under the foil.

Nice, following this thread for more updates.  I was also looking in to meshtastic communication but haven't found a use for it yet since I mainly surf but I can see it will be a good use for DW without cell reception. 

Do you plan to chop the fin portion off since it just creating unneeded drag once you have a foil on it?

I'm also looking for eps block(6'x2'x6-7") too and I'm in LA area.  I email Mako foam last year about eps block, never got a response.  Might have to stop by Mako and see what they offer.

Same here, i drive a civic with roof rack. No issue with my 12'6, just strap it to the roof. no bow or stern straps.
