Classifieds / gofoil mast

anyone holding an old gofoil mast they'd be willing to sell cheap?  I have an IWA wing and KAI tail still laying around and I want to gift it to a friend as a prone learning kit.   Would need a track version or find a tuttle conversion plate.

Classifieds / Axis 1099 $250 shipping in the US

Somebody must want this wing.  Its really a very nice wing for what it does, I moved to the 1201 - for me a better fit, but to be honest not necessarily better for everyone.  The 1099 is stiffer and more predictable in my opinion, the 1201 is a pumping machine, slightly better efficiency but also a little more squirrelly.

I already boxed it up just need to slap a UPS label on it.

Foil SUP / SUPfoil is awesome

Its been quiet in here for a while.  I just wanted to take a moment and share that I think SUP foiling is awesome.  This morning's session really reinforced it once again for me.  Glassy, tiny, and not quite the right tide or swell direction for any local spots.   I went out anyway and ripped up every little ripple that came through.  At least 50 other people were out sitting around on their longboards relaxing (very very few waves ridden that I could see).    No less than 5 people came to talk to me as I was getting out of the water because it was just so obvious that foiling is amazing even in the most ridiculous conditions.

I'm paddling the 8' barracuda, axis 1201, 14" KD marlin.   Its a ripple catching and pump back out machine.    Absolutely incredible.

If I could just bottle up this feeling and distribute it, there would be far fewer mental health issues in the world.

I discovered this stuff fixing my wing bladder.  Apparently well known to kiters for years.  But I recently realized that it works wonderful for patching board dings to keep the board watertight.  If you prep the surface with alchohol it sticks really well and seems very durable (sand very smooth if not already).  Previously I had been using aluminum foil HVAC tape, it seals but actually isn't very durable.

Random / buying stupid shit at auction

I came across a 8hp gas powered winch with 600ft dyneema cord at an auction and bought it for pennies on the dollar.  Now I'm in buyer's remorse because I have to figure out where to put it 364 days out of the year - but also giddy about using to teach people to foil at the local lagoon.    As fun finds at auctions go, this takes the cake.  Hopefully the engine starts right up and the clutch isn't smoked.

They also had a solo-shot camera, which I had no idea I needed.  but that one sold well above what they are going for on ebay, which is quite odd.  But now I am trolling classifieds looking for a soloshot, sigh.

The Shape Shack / Hollow foil board construction method

This post is to get discussion going on how to build a super lightweight "barracuda" style foilboard.   I'm sure such a thing could be built with female molds but shapes are evolving so fast now that we need a method with minimal upfront investment.  I'm thinking of a method that just requires a cnc router and typical wet layup vac-bag techniques.



The blocks of PVC foam are going to be seriously expensive, but the foam density could be varied for the hull vs. the deck.  We might even get away with using a 2-3lb EPS.    If the board is designed with a fairly simple deck that could be done with a sheet of PVC, or go with denser PVC underfoot and lighter PVC everywhere else.

Thoughts? Perhaps someone has tried this kind of method before?

Wingsurfing, Windfoiling, Wingfoiling, Wing SUP / duotone unit leaking near strut hose junction to the main bladder

Has anyone else had this problem?  I guess I need to take the main bladder out and see exactly what's leaking - it isn't the hose or the hose fitting, seems like something inside.  I guess maybe I could buy this part and try to replace the bad one, just looking for advise if anyone has dealt with this

Random / wetsuit locker for van camper

I've been thinking for a while about designing a built-in wetsuit locker in my van.

Essentially a closet made from welded HDPE like a water tank, but the right size to hang up 2 wetsuits on a hanger to drip/air dry.  It would have a drain fitting on the bottom that could go to a tube out through the floor of the van.  And maybe a ventilation fan up near the top to move some air through - possibly out the drain hole in the bottom.  It wouldn't have to move much air, just enough to keep the humidity down to outside ambient levels.

Alternatively, I might make it so that it would be mounted on the back door of the van outside.

Anyone else have a solution for drying out the wetsuit quickly when camping out of a van?
