Seriously when is starboard going to realize that you need that extra grip from tail to mid. Seems that they've known of the slippage issue for a while so change it. Just sad to see that after buying new board we've got to figure out how to fix it. What does starboard say about it?

I posted in their forum:  http://www.star-board-sup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9791

I don't know if they read it..

I've sent Monster paint an email asking them if I can use their product on my pad and will post their answer....

I am also thinking of getting this to stick on top of my existing pad.

Yesterday I slipped again with my back foot and now I really have to do something about  it.

I don't like wax and I can't get Monster Paint in the Netherlands so I guess I will have to try to sandpaper the slippery parts of the deck pad of my Pocket Rocket.

I just am still a bit hesitant , don't want to mess up my PR....

Did any of you already do this?
How did you do it? What grid? Did it help? And how does it look?

I was thinking about using coarse sandpaper on the slippery parts of the deck pad...

Any thoughts about that?

How does the new PR ride
Soepkip?
As a newbie I can tell you my findings but don't take them to serious...
I have got another set of fins on the PR : Q-7Q1s  http://www.surffcs.com/en/products/fins/Quads/Q-7Q1s.aspx
I have never been on the old one and the only boards I can compare it with are the SB converse and the Angulo Surfa 9.0

The PR has a lot less glide compared to the Converse but is better suited for beach break conditions imo.
It is very nice for late takeoffs and very loose. The quad setup is very usefull when the waves break on a very shalow sandbank.

But the board I use the most is the Angulo Surfa 9.0, it is a lot more stable when it is choppy and also very loose.
But I force myself to use the PR as much as possible to improve my balance.

My Starboard Pocket Rocket Silver AST's Deckpad is very effective in the middle (4mm 3/4 DECK PAD square-groove traction EVA standing area) where I stand when I am paddling in parallel stance but in front and in the back (2mm EVA fore and aft of standing area) it is just flat and I already slipped a few times..

Should I just put wax on the pad or is there another way to make it less slippery?

Gear Talk / Re: Quad fin setup Angulo Surfa 9'0"

So the first thing I should try is replace the 5.4" Gerry lopes fronts by slightly smaller fronts about 4.6" ?

I am also going to try the 4.0" fronts that come with the board but I suppose that's for small waves (which is what we normally get)

What board is in this picture?
Is that a handle?

My latest purchase

Length: 9' 0"
Nose: 23”
MId: 31 3/4”
Tail: 19 1/2”
Thickness: 4”
Volume: 140
Weight: 18 lbs
The board has futures fins boxes
I want to try the board as a quad.

Just like my Fusion:http://www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php?topic=10165.0

The Fusion is based in South Africa, the Angulo will be used in the Netherlands:choppy, slow waves that are under 2 meters,,under 1 meter 90% of the time..

The board comes with a pair of asym 4"fronts, and a pair of asym 3,5"rears.
This seems to be quite small for a wide board like the surfa.

Because  I forgot to take the 4"0 fronts at the shop I started with the 5,4" Gerry Lopes fronts and the 3,5" rears

I already had a good time on my new board considering the crappy conditions.

Does any body have some advice on quad fins for this board so that I will be ready for better conditions?

Do I need symmetrical or asymmetrical rears and what size should they be?

And what size fronts should I use?

Surfa 9'0 from Angulo, what's better than that?

Could you please tell some more about this board?

What fins do u use?
Does it also work in slow or small waves?

Any more first hand experience with the Angulo Surfa's 9.0 and 9.8?

Is the 9.0 as good as some people say the 9.8 is?

I played with the G LO fins, and the rear fins they include are huge. Consider swapping out the rears with some of the recommendations given here, and it will be way looser.

I also got myself  a pair of 4.00" symmetrical 'plastic' rears.
They are a lot safer then the GL rears ;D the trailing edge is nicely blunt
The size difference with the 5.4" GL fronts is quite big.

Should I get smaller fronts or is this (GL 5.4 asymm fronts + 4.00 symm plasic rears) going to work?

I don't have a lot of time to go supping so I don't like to go out with fins that don't work....

I found a Futures Gerry Lopez Quad set and took it home...

The fronts seem to be identical to the fronts of th GL thruster set and
the rears are symmetrical.

When the wind stops blowing I will test them and report back..

What about this set http://www.futuresfins.com/fin-detail.php?id=181?

It is quite a bit smaller then the Gerry Lopez quad set http://www.futuresfins.com/fin-detail.php?id=192

Is the part of the fin that goes in the box always less deep for the rear fins?
