Random / "Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded."
« on: September 23, 2015, 10:19:49 AM »
Here is some of the wit and wisdom of the late, great Yogi Berra:

On getting enough rest:

“I usually take a two-hour nap from one to four.”

On "fan" mail:

“Never answer an anonymous letter.”

On education:

“I’m not going to buy my kids an encyclopedia. Let them walk to school like I did.”

“You can observe a lot by watching.”

On the future:

“The future ain’t what it used to be.”

On travel:

“If you don’t know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else.”

“Why buy good luggage, you only use it when you travel.”

“The towels were so thick there I could hardly close my suitcase.”

“When you come to a fork in the road, take it.”

On social life:

"Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded."

“It gets late early out here.”

On youth sports:

“I think Little League is wonderful. It keeps the kids out of the house.”

On the human anatomy:

“I don’t know (if they were male or female) fans running naked across the field). They had bags over their heads.”

On receiving advice:

“Take it with a grin of salt.”

On weather:

“It ain’t the heat, it’s the humility.”

On finance:

“A nickel ain’t worth a dime anymore.”

On baseball:

“In baseball, you don’t know nothing.”

“We made too many wrong mistakes.”

“So I’m ugly. I never saw anyone hit with his face.”

“If the people don’t want to come out to the ballpark, nobody’s going to stop them.”

“Baseball is 90 percent mental. The other half is physical.”

“All pitchers are liars or crybabies.”

“We were overwhelming underdogs.”

“Bill Dickey is learning me his experience.”

“He hits from both sides of the plate. He’s amphibious.”

“I always thought that record would stand until it was broken.”

“I can see how he (Sandy Koufax) won 25 games. What I don’t understand is how he lost five.”

“I want to thank everyone for making this night necessary.”

On being thought of as a philosopher:

"I didn't really say everything I said."

On death:

“You should always go to other people’s funerals, otherwise, they won’t come to yours.”

Random / NFL '15
« on: September 13, 2015, 07:51:20 PM »
I'll start with "details".
I'm into details, design details to be more precise, and I became intrigued by a new helmet that I first saw showing up last year.  It's not the future looking one that first showed up in '08, that's the Riddell "Revolution", which is very cool, but a newer one with some kind of what looks like a flexible flap in front, above the mask.

So I'm watching the Raiders today, trying to read the manufactures logo on that helmet, can't seem to see it.  Wonky game by the way, maybe next year,,,,,,, too soon?

Research, research, research, first I find out that the NFL no longer allows the manufactures' logo on the helmets, no wonder, more research.  NFL helmet news takes me back to the Riddell site, and they have a new helmet that they introduced last year, it's the Riddell "Speedflex", it flexes, newer research, on their part, finds that a flexible helmet works better than a rigid one, so there you have it.

Not required by the NFL, but it's in the players' choice of helmets to use, we will probably be seeing more of those showing up.

More info here if interested, http://www.riddell.com/shop/on-field-equipment/helmets/riddell-speedflex-helmet.html?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc

Cool?  I think so, having many helmets over the years for both motorcycles and windsurfing.

NO NOT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then don't go any further, you really don't have to, "This is a SUP site, WTF?"  Yeah, yeah, I know.

Somebody sent me this questionnaire that is supposedly supposed to tell you who you're most in favor of for POTUS.  So just take it for what's it worth, but I found it interesting.  Pay attention to the "more questions" at the end of each section, and the "more or less" scale at each question for a more supposedly accurate result, "more" is to the right.

Full disclosure, I came out as a Rubio voter, but I'm not really there yet.

A friend of mine sent this to me, so awesome, an outstanding example of the greatest generation.  It's to bad that all the vets didn't come back the same as this guy did, 91 years old and he totally gets it.

Obama moving to Robin's nest?
http://khon2.com/2015/03/17/sale-of-magnum-p-i-home-may-be-tied-to-president-obama/

Lets just hope that he doesn't go out on an ocean kayak, w/o a leash, like Thomas Magnum did, only to find himself treading water for hours, out at sea, talking to his departed dad.

I always knew he was into pop-culture, but this?
