Good advice from Burchas.

Boards come and go, paddle could stay with you for a long time.

That 3 piece and your board will come in handy when you move on up. Friends and family can use them with you. The 3 piece could also be strapped to your deck as a back-up on longer paddles (I have a kayak paddle for that purpose). So, yeah, don't permanently glue it together. Watch for corrosion on that mechanism too.

For a dissenting opinion, just stay home. Not trying to cast shade here: it just seems like the responsible thing to do. Canada's Covid rates are dismal, so let's not export it. Nobody thinks that they personally could be a carrier, yet the virus is spreading. Everyone thinks they are taking appropriate precautions from getting it, yet the virus is spreading.

Try a theme party for two at home: send a donation to your future destination's local hospitals or other charity; buy some food from there; get some local cash; put on some local music; turn up the thermostat and raise the humidity; put on your swim suits and throw all that cash in the air. Video it and get back to us on the 28th.

We've recently finished the series "Borgen", a political drama set in Denmark. Yes, subtitles, but worth it.

Yes, Queen's Gambit was excellent. I wonder if the characters in the storyline represent chess pieces. I don't play so I have no idea, but it seems like life imitating art imitating life.

Turned out pretty heavy. About 13.5 kgs. I think it's just under 14. Not too happy about that.

Congratulations on the board. It looks fantastic.

What would you do to reduce the weight? Could you use high density foam laminates for the frames and stringers?

BTW - I watch the C$ and bought an ML 320 in 2001 when the C$ was depressed to about .85US.  It does not work anymore, for MB at least. To beat the workaround, they switched the TPMS monitoring system to EURO standards and it is too expensive to overcome and re-certify. (I was sniffing last year...)   

Back then, a pissload of people from the upper states were going over the border.  It took 20mins and <$200 of paperwork at the Peace Bridge.  I keep the ML as my 'farm truck' and the speedo still reads in KMPH.

A lot of Americans are (or were) coming up to Vancouver and Victoria to buy boats. Used boat prices are crazy high. Even older Canadians are paying the prices because the rainy day is here now. I remember a Mercedes ad that went something like "How long are you going to wait to buy ice cream?" ie you've earned the right to have a little luxury; what are you waiting for? It's time to buy another boat. Or build one.

Bring a Trailer has gone bonkers. I can't go on the site because I lose half of my day. At the end it is dissatisfying. Like porn (just imagining it is so as I just read the articles). I much prefer ratty drivers' cars that go out and mix it up.

One neighbour has a 911 in the garage. It never comes out to play. He is a banker and I am assuming it is an investment for him. I want to light his house on fire. But then that would make 911's all the more precious, so no. Another neighbour has a 2002Tii on Bring-your-wallet. I don't begrudge him as he is a real enthusiast and the car is magnificent.

Edit: The Canadian dollar is quite depressed so cars and boats in Canada are being snapped up by Americans. As long as they are commercially shipped they can cross the border.

For $25 you'd have a paddle you can use or lend to others. Adjustables make great loaners and back-ups.

This is a pretty good argument to just keep everything Metric.

That looks fantastic. I looks like you added pad material to cover the business below. Nice touch. Maybe I'll add little shapes of pad material over the scars of my repairs, like the Kernel, sound but... Of course stickers would work too. And mind you, I haven't fixed the last several dings. They are covered in that thick and sticky red vapour barrier tape.

My desktop is super messy with legions of temporary files. I never remember if the files there are the only version I have, or copies put there for a temporary purpose.

If I may offer some variations: Export the file you intend to post to a dedicated folder you set up such as "SUZ Photos". Then you can manage them there without losing track of them. I like prefixing the file name by its date of manipulation or posting date, then you just go to the bottom of the list. Use YYYYMMDD. Then you know it's different from the original, and you know when you posted it to SUZ.

Yes, I suppose. Personally I have tried to make masks, gloves, hand-washing, sterilization, etc, standard practises to the point they are automatic, and at that point I am doing all I can to quell this virus. However, for the sake of my mental health, I am trying to limit "doom scrolling" - a practise of dwelling on all the shit that is happening around us. I am well aware of my co-morbidities (as you seem to be of your own situation), and just don't need to know my number. I still don't think it does anyone any good, particularly as you give up intimate health details to the wild.

Oxygen is very handy.

Yep, I'm happy to embrace the DIY mindset. Thank you for the tips and links. A few hundred $$ is reasonable and it makes sense to match the original materials. While I don't stand in this area, I do tend to step there on my way back to the tail.

1. Sand around the hole until all the delaminated material is gone. Sand the perimeter of the opening so that it's feathered from carbon down to foam. I'll try the random orbital sander this time instead of the dremel.

2. Cut divinycell to fit the hole. Squeegee epoxy into the foam and onto the divinycell. Marry the two together and clamp or weight on a falling thermometer.

3. Cut a piece of CF an inch bigger than the hole in every direction. Follow PB's description to paint the area with epoxy, pre-wet the CF with a bubble roller, and apply. Use something like this 5.7oz cloth from ebay?  https://tinyurl.com/y64tn468. For epoxy I have West System 105/205.

4. After CF has cured, sand lightly and do the same thing with a layer or two of fiberglass cut a bit smaller than the CF. Sand, apply deck pad, enjoy cold beverage.

She went down to EPS, but it sounds like you have a sound glass layer already, so you are starting with the thin HD foam.

I would buy carbon remnants from https://www.sollercomposites.com/Remnants.html . He doesn't list any pieces right now but has a note saying to call for 3K pieces smaller than a yard.

...With the leash plugs which take a force, I'll first brush a thin layer of epoxy inside the freshly cut leash plug hole and let it cure. Then I'll set the leash plug with a small piece of 4 oz glass under it and lapping out on to the board glass. Danny Brawner taught me that trick.

Seems like a good idea. Also, after it is installed, how about laying down a web of uni fibre intersecting the top of the edge of the plug and extending a distance onto the board after its installed? As if a tangent but covering a bit of the plug's outer edge. We could reinforce any plug already installed, not just new or repaired installs.
