Did you ride any of the Kujira II, or just the originals?

The Shape Shack / Re: All in One« on: July 24, 2023, 10:16:32 PM »Actually, I don't think you'd need to worry about breaching. This design should benefit from the same lift self-regulating as ladder foils do. As speed increases there is less surface area required (lift is a function of velocity squared, so that's a big deal). The wing doesn't come out of the water to lose lift--just being close to the surface should ventilate the top wing. I was more thinking about tip breaches in turns. Good breach recovery is a killer feature, but having the top wing that much higher means you won't be able to roll as far. 3

I was just telling someone the other day that I thought foil design was going to plateau pretty soon. I guess those words are as good as eaten. Looks like wing tip breaches all over the place though.

No question that I would wait to get the AFS version, but with the used market where it is right now I could have a takuma 1095, cabrinha 800 and a unifoil vyper 170 for the price of a new foil and still have money left over. I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun on that AFS 1050 in a year's time after someone else is bored with it. It's okay, I can wait.

Anyone have a source for the long M8 bolts that Axis uses for their mast to fuse connection?

I have an old kenalu tuttle mount thats broken on the fuse side. It would be shorter than what you want but with a tuttle plate adapter it might be long enough.

Sounds like he is just back logged, but he certainly indicated he has the technical ability to build one when I e-mailed him.

I have a cedrus but it’s short for small wave prone, and I found the weight savings over aluminum to not be worth it, which is what I gather is the case with axis carbon too. At least with NL you get a way lighter setup in exchange for less stiffness. How long ago did you ask? He sure sounded like he could do it when I emailed him a few weeks back. 13

The price point is pretty innovative too. Feels like the market is maturing a little.
