Ditto on the heat gun method ... took my paddle into the local shop and they broke out their heat gun. We hit it with a little heat and then between two of us we'd pull and twist. If it didn't feel like it was coming loose, we'd give it a little more heat and pull and twist again. Came apart on 3rd or 4th try. Really helps to have another person so you can pull and twist from both ends. Shop didn't charge me anything, took it home and cut to new length, and put the handle back on with hot glue instead of epoxy. Haven't had any problems with it coming loose.

Gear Talk / Steller D Wing opinions?
« on: December 16, 2019, 07:46:35 PM »
There's a used 9' Steller D Wing for sale on the local Craigslist, been posted for a few months now and the price is slowly eroding. Haven't been able to find much written about them, anybody have experience with them and willing to share an opinion?

Technique / Dropping In with Strong Offshores
« on: December 15, 2019, 06:08:48 PM »
This Sat we had pretty good waist-chest swell at my home beach-break, but we also had a a stiff offshore wind, strong enough (15+) to create some chop out in the line-up. Missed several waves due to getting a big blast of wind in the chest when trying to drop-in. Would pretty much stall me out and I'd miss the wave. Felt like I was paddling pretty hard, harder than usual for sure and was trying to have speed as wave approached. Didn't really know what to due to counter it, just kept trying. Any ideas?

Curious … what video recording settings do you experienced users recommend for recording surf sessions? i.e. what resolution, fps, continuous recording, loop recording, etc seem to work best for you for image quality, battery life, ease of use ?

Thanks for those words STC … "Accept life as it comes, because it does" … and that's the damn truth. For me, I keep telling myself "its not what happens, but how you respond". That's not always easy, but it's really up to you. If you want to be miserable, you will be. But if you want to look for the positives and be thankful and happy, well that's available too.
