I guess in those conditions, rivers, you want a different shape board. Maybe the round rails are better. Sharp, square rails would catch more. You must have pretty good balance to be paddling in those conditions!

Beasho amazing work. Maybe a little over complicated though. Here is one I found on another site that I like. Easy to read and the message is clear.

Hope you fully recover soon. Were you in hospital?Does that mean you are immune after. Still seems to be debates about it here.
 All very similar situations here.
We know 2 people that are sick,1 confirmed and 1 not confirmed that were both turned away from hospital as they weren't that sick.

They are now understanding that the hardest hit areas had multiple cases confined in a small areas. That's when it goes ballistic. I guess lots of confined work space restaurants bars etc in New York. They will probably find out a lot of people came back from Europe with it then where in confined spaces with multiple cases.
This again is why South Korea has nailed it. Testing and an app that shows where infected people are. Anytime multiple infected people start to converge they get a text and disperse. They are still going about their daily lives and walking around.
We are only just seeing VOLUNTRY testing in France. Confinement after it has spread and no testing? Hows that working for Italy? If 1 person in the family has it they will all get it eventually. Families touch each other share food etc more.
The small town in Italy that has no deaths and no new cases TESTED.

Same as France. Not enough test kits and serious lack of medical equipment. Now the hospitals are over run.
The WHO have been warning countries for months that this was going to be bad and prepare your hospitals etc.
South Korea started mass producing test kits back in December. They are looking pretty good at the moment.
Looks like France and Spain will extend and make stricter rules for the confinement.

I hope for your sake and millions of other Americans you are right. By the looks of what's going on all over the world and the numbers I think it's not looking great.

Beaches are no longer free and opened in a lot of places in Europe! You will get fined.
Too many people were still going out during the confinement. Now they are closed.
Look at what has happened in other countries and the doctors begging people to stay home. The hospitals cant keep up in the hard hit areas. The army are now flying patients out of the hard hit areas too other hospitals or emergency army hospitals they are setting up away from the bad areas.
This is not media hype etc anymore. Be sensible about this .

Interesting thanks. Definately eating too much pasta. It's easy and the kids like it.Not going to take home up on the 750 push ups a day!

Nice work. You are obviously a numbers man!
As one of the top doctors in Paris keeps saying once you can see sick people it's too late! People were also asking about data and numbers. He simply said if you think the data is scary think that  it only shows known cases. It's only the tip of the iceberg we are seeing. Please stay home. People aren't taking this seriously enough.
They are already saying the 2 week confinement here in France will be extended. It took nearly 2 months in China and when they say stay home people stay home!

More and more beaches closing in Europe as well. I think all ports are closed to recreational craft. Use of recreational craft is banned until the end of the month.
Listen to the doctors begging people to stay home. Once you can see sick people its too late one of the top doctors in Paris said.

Your a legend creek. I am going to have to change my question to Mild weather paddling. That's not what I meant by cold.
I can just see the new "Winter Search" the ice breaker bow isn't for everybody but comes in handy for those cold days( cold by Creeks standard).

Looking at doing more paddling this winter. In France. Mainly flatwater and some downwinding. Water temp around 10°C, air temp can be 8 to mid teens on a warm day.
Wondering what people are wearing. I have a 3/4 wetsuit at the moment. Most of the time I find it too hot. Except when downwinding and being in the water at times.
Looking at a new wetsuit, so many different zip systems etc. I guess some can be annoying. Maybe a dry suit or combo of pants and dry top.
I have a 2mm long john that is great for warmer days. I can wear a warm top/ wind breaker with it. I am thinking of a 3 or 4mm long john with a couple of different tops could be a good combo. Some of the sailing brands do products that are more wind proof and flexable than a normal wetsuit.
Interested to know what people have found that works and is comfortable.

FLYING TIGER RACE FIN

The Flying Tiger race fin is a new addition to the Redwoodpaddle fin family. Made using Carbon Lite material this fin generates exceptional speed and tracking. Ideal for fitness, training, competition or going downwind. The specially designed leading edge also offers easier handling when you're catching bumps or when you want to move into surf mode.

Construction 100% Carbon

Height: 8" (20,32 cm)
Weight: 180g
Fin type: US box

Surface (in2)       = 37
Weight (g)           = 180g
Length (mm)       = 210
Base Width (mm) = 200

It was 69 euros. I think I need to paddle with it a bit more. It was a bit bumpy and I hadn't paddled for about a while.
Going to try one of these next. Why not at the price.

I would have to be pretty serious about racing to give up that stability and tracking. Did I go wow this is fast, no. I will use that fin for calm days for the moment. Maybe once I use it more and get used to it I will go wow.
I am sure over a long distance it makes a difference. So difficult to get real word drag figures on something like this. As area10 said I think it is a lot of personal preference and board. I have my eye on a K4 fin next. UK company making plastic fins. Great price and difficult to chip. Not a lot heavier than a carbon fin.
