Way cool. No leaves, no flowers, frozen water for another 3-4 weeks but still got out. I agree, only thing that tops this is those guys on Lake Huron. And you are going on the left side of the road like I thought everyone drives up there.

Not sure if this is the right forum for this thread but is anyone else having trouble replying to a pm from their box here? I have tried numerous things to resolve this but am still unable to reply to a message.

The imagine eco boards have their place but I don't think of them really as board but more of a hybrid kayak. Very durable but way heavy. If you want a board you will be disappointed in that if you haven't seen it firsthand. I tried to reply back to your message but can't for some reason. I will try again later. It says something is wrong with their server.

I am one of those other 10 people in Wyoming you speak of. I looked at the Boga site and I would get the El Rey. Not sure the classic is thick enough to keep a rider dry of your size in the early and late season with our cool waters. I am sure it will float you for sure but could be a wet ride with water on the board most of the time. Getting wet is part of paddling for sure but you don't have to have water on top of the board all the time for lake paddling. Just my 2 cents from my limited time out in our wonderful climate. What blueplanet talks about is true for sure. Tahoe and Hovie also have good boards with displacement hulls but they cost more. The Amundson was reccomened to me also from someone in the know after I had been out for a couple of months and started to figure out more of what I wanted and what would work better for conditions I wanted improvement on. I am a bit taller and heavier than you and got a R French 11'6" board last summer and it is a great board for what I do. It is thicker than the Bogas and I still have water on the board some. It's pretty dry tho. I would recommend it to anyone cruising on lakes. It has even seen a 10 mile stretch of river. Now that I have a summer under me and know what I will be doing I am looking at getting another board for sure. Consider a used board as it will end up being just a board for your quiver as you figure it out and really know what you will be doing and want out there.

Anyone try or see the new Hobie Dura SUP? No weight is listed on it and I am wondering if the constrctuion would make it a heavy board. Any thoughts on it on flatwater?

Happy with my French board from Surftech as my first board. You will get another board tho. Trust us on this. I was able to figure out what I really wanted to do on the board and can get another to compliment it now. From there I will want something that will do this or that and will get another from there. They are like all other things you like and you will end up with a quiver of them for sure so don't worry lots on that first board. Spend as much as you can to get something well made and you will still use. It can be your rock board down the line so to say. The French is a pretty durable board and I have no complaints. If you spend to little and get a board that is not well made you may end up not liking it. Go inexpensive but not cheap so to say. I am 6'4" and 225 and got the 11'6" model. I have heard the Bic and Oxbow are good boards. I ahve heard you can wait months for one out there you mention.

She won't. I did get her into a kayak last summer and she really likes that. Maybe this summer on the board. I doubt it tho. Got my kids into it tho.

Ok. Who else has noticed a taste of soy sauce when they drink Guiness?

Leinenkugel Red (only available within a certain radius of the brewery) good stuff. New Castle (can get warm and still be good, how do you beat that?) Boddingtons Pilsner Urquel urkel urqel (best tall can out there, perfect for paddle or golf) Negro Modelo good old Heineken

I did read and will reread. I am glad you posted that. Thank You. It does give an appreciation to those who know this craft. I may give it a shot this spring or next winter. I have always thought (i am sure like most) a wood paddle is more like a piece of art and the carbon paddles, although light weight and very good just seem more cookie cutter popped out of a mold. It seems a little different to paddle with a piece of a tree instead of plastic so to say. Kind of like hitting a baseball. There is nothing like hitting the sweet spot but it sure feels better with a wood bat. (Maybe because it didn't sting?)

I can give you instructions how to build a paddle this way if you like. The pics on the scales show that this wooden paddle is the same weight as my C4 full carbon paddle which is on the scales at the bottom.
I would be very interested in instructions or guidelines to make a paddle like these. Very nice.

I have had killer skiing in the morning and golfing in the afternoon in Tahoe before. I will have to try a ski and paddle day next time. Corn in the morning and a paddle afternoon. Days are getting long enough could even hit the range in the evening....where else could you do all that with great conditions in one day. Can't forget the dice either at night. Gotta love Tahoe.

I would have never thought there was enough energy stored in a coil leash to make it a problem with the weight of the board and rider.
