After reading a comment from an uninhibited member in another thread I decided I wanted to post this. Who has toe nail fungus and what have you done to make it better? I think my feet wrapped in wool and felt for half the year is what made mine so rampant. Never had an issue until moving to the high country with real winters. Regardless my feet were painful and unpresentable. I may not have discovered crocs if it wasn't for this but after years of trying this and that I finally got a handle on it. I never wanted to take that pill and tried other things on the store shelf. I finally came upon tea tree oil and with daily doses of it on my nails and filing of my nails I have gotten it beat down. About a years worth of dedication. I also have been infected with athletes foot. The same or did one start the other? I don't know but after a couple of years thinking about it I finally got the courage to go in a nail salon and get a pedicure. A big hairy guy going into a nail salon was no easy task for me. Turns out it was some of the best money I ever spent. By the third one spread out over 6 months my feet were like they were 17 again (almost) and presentable. That is what really accelerated the healing process. They didn't/don't crack as often/quickly. My nails actually look like nails and not something growing on the north side of my foot. I wear flip flops again and can walk barefoot without tippy toeing. I keep up with the oil and foot lotion (still going to give the coconut oil a whirl) and look forward to my pedicures when I am in a far away location where no one I know will see me walking in or sitting in the chair. What have you done and tried?

Hi. I want to install a Scotty flush mount rod holder on my board. R French 11'6". It will require an 1 3/8" diameter hole 1 5/8" deep. I was going to make sure I have at least 3" thck board where I mount it. I will carefully drill the hole, fill with marine epoxy and fill around the "cover" will sit also so the hole is surrounded with epoxy and under the mount is also full of epoxy. Put some heavy stuff on it overnite. As long as I am carefull with the drill should this work ok? I am trying to attatch a photo of the Scotty mount here. Also, should I only cut out the deck pad for the actual hole or also around the entire base. I am inclined only to cut about 1 1/2" of the deck pad out as I am not certain I can make a clean enough cut to make it look good around the base. Thanks.

Please excuse my ignorance here but I am curious about something that I am not sure I completely understand. I see lots of discussion about "downwinding" and also some about "upwind". Downwinding I am assuming is you board down wind with the wind to your back. A blast, no pun intended. If the wind is strong you have to turn back around and go upwind, right? Do you downwind paddle before the wind is say past 15-20 or do you really paddle upwind against the wind at 20-25? At some point isn't it impossible to paddle upwind and where is that general point at? I got caught in the wind once and was worried I wouldn't get back where I needed to. I did and maybe it was my worried old age doing the thinking that day. Do you really downwind for good distances before going upwind? If you were going to paddle in the wind most days wouldn't you always want the board better for upwind and always want something made better for upwind? Wouldn't a heavier board better for upwind? Excuse my novice and seemingly absurd question as I have followed here for a while but I don't think I understand this completely.

Who can tell me more about this board. Durability? Stability? Is it a good choice for someone who is 6'4" and 235 lbs paddling on lakes?

Not sure if this is the right forum for this thread but is anyone else having trouble replying to a pm from their box here? I have tried numerous things to resolve this but am still unable to reply to a message.

Anyone try or see the new Hobie Dura SUP? No weight is listed on it and I am wondering if the constrctuion would make it a heavy board. Any thoughts on it on flatwater?

I wanted everyone to know here I went off a thread here for a bag that would fit my R. French 11'6" board. After a few measurements and a very reasonable waiting time I got my custom made board bag. This bag is every bit as nice as the Surftech bag that would not fit my Surftech board and had to send back. Bomber constriuction, stictching and materials and very reasonably priced. Check out Midnight Prodcuts.

Got my first board. R. French 11'6" and getting the hang of it. 6'4" 225 lbs. I am wondering about fins. Thrusters and center. What differences will what fins make? It has a stock Surftech 9" center and FCS sides. Will different centers make more difference than different sides. etc? ? I am lake/flat water paddling almost exclusively.
I am also already thinking of another board. Just like skis and kayaks and all the toys, got to see what is out there and what they do. I have been interested in the Tahoe Rubicon, Hovie Nomad, and Hobie 12' ATR? The Jimmy Skykes board has also caught my attention as its price is quite attractive. Any input on another board for a big guy intermediate flat water paddler would be appreciated.
