Downwind and Racing / Re: Easter Sunday paddle with PBill 720p

Anyone that has seen Jeremy on a downwinder knows he's the Sultan of Slide--he looks like a waterbug. He hardly paddles.

Bill,

That downwinding video of Jeremy Riggs you have on Ke Nalu is unbelieveable - I kept asking myself "how does he accelerate so quickly with so few paddle strokes?". I don't know if you've already posted it on the Zone, but anyone who hasn't seen it should mosey on over to Ke Nalu and check it out - it's amazing.

Without a doubt that was the best downwinding video I've seen - those guys rip!

Here is a clue to what that guy who eats grass fed beef and drinks RAW milk will look like .......  ??  His name is Laird and his wife's name is Gabriel . Seems to be working for them !! It sure does for me and my family.

What a BS statement. Are you saying that their diet is the sole reason for how they look? Genetics, workout routines, lifestyle - that has nothing to do with it?? What a joke . . .

Too bad the chart doesn't differentiate between LDL cholesterol and HDL cholesterol. Makes it about as useful as the study . . .

DJ - I suspected as much. I noticed that Coreban had the Dart on the website so I was hoping someone could give me some feedback on it. Guess I have to play the waiting game.

That video of Ivan is unbelievable - gives me something to shoot for!

By the way, how did you get it to these two? (over say the M14, Shaka ...)

Mostly due to availability - there aren't a lot of SUP dealers in my area, and very few of them carry any 14' boards.

Downwind and Racing / Coreban Dart vs. Naish Glide 14 (2012)
« on: March 10, 2012, 05:02:35 PM »
Hello zoners,

A question for those who have experience with either/both of these boards.

I'm looking for a 14' downwind/ flat water board, and have narrowed it down to these 2 options. Can anybody comment on the pros/cons of either/both for downwind runs, flat water paddling, and light touring? I've heard a lot about the Glide but not as much about the dart.

I'm 5'10", approximately 200 lbs, and would consider myself beginner/intermediate. Any input is appreciated!

Thanks,

melonhead

Just admiring the chick in Blueplanetsurf's shots and trying to think of something witty to say about pics 4 and 5 hanging together like her legs are on back to front and then I checked pic 6 out and thought 'what the hells going on there?' Looks like she might have suffered a severe contortion of the spine and poor lass has a massively overdeveloped forearm if that's the case can we be sure that this Stand up thing is actually good for us?

I didn't notice that sixth pic until you pointed it out - kind of freaky looking!

I'd have to agree with Weasel - more like a boom for the camera than anything else. Also, what length is that snowboard? Does it ever look short in the video!

Here's some more of the guy from halftime at the Super Bowl:

Check out how he goes without a leash over some of those big drops - now that's focus!

« on: February 01, 2012, 12:17:09 AM »
IMO, overpriced and low quality.  I would never have bought them if I wasn't in a pinch at the time, unfortunately it was all they had for my size 15 feet.  Barely 6 months old and the foot straps connecting to the footbed are both about to go.  $70 for sandals. Pfft.

I have to agree with jd on this one. We sell them at the shop I work at and several of the staff purchased them.  Three pairs (of four) had to be warranteed and the fourth pair flattened out within 6 months, making them only slightly superior to Walmart specials. I have a pair of Chaco flips, on the other hand, which have been bomber.

ps - I don't work for Chaco and I get the same prodeal price on sandals either way, so it wasn't a cost issue that kept me from buying Olukai.

Hemp hearts
Goji berries
Kale

If you're a vegetarian, the first two are must-haves, IMO.

Unreal footage.  One of the best SUP vids I've seen - wouldn't want to be in the water filming though!

I have an adjustable Nitro and have had it for more than a year now.  No handle issues at all and would definitely buy another - the bent shaft Fuse will likely be my next paddle.
