One note, at the Royal Hawaiian I saw some 10' Randy French Surftech's that looked alright, but from what I hear, if you can hit Blue Planet, do it.

Pono, I'm doing some research on it for clients and that's exactly the problem, it's too wide open and you don't know if you're in trouble til you're out of business.

It's basically up to a judge and it feels like a really big stick to hand them.

I have a surf cap, booties and neo gloves so I can move back and forth, as needed. I plan to start with adding the cap, but I may have to do my own "Pono-Design" on making one that doesn't make you look like such a weirdo.

I currently wear a baseball cap backwards over mine but there has to be a better option. I know the trick of heat loss through your head, so well. That's why I loved the hood on the Hyperflex rashie.

Here's a nice idea.

Random / SOPA and the Zone
« on: January 18, 2012, 11:11:14 AM »
Just a note on today's protest. If SOPA were to be passed and a judge choose to do so, the Zone could be shut down over us posting pics, videos and songs that aren't "ours" legally.

It's unlikely, but so is the government taking our guns and we still protect that right.

I'm not a fan of piracy, but in my opinion, SOPA is the wrong answer and a bit too over-reaching for my comfort level.

I hope they re-write it to better present the spirit of the law, stopping foreign piracy of US copy-written materials, but as is, it scares me. Too much power and too easily abused.

Ok, I'm assuming Playa for over, but I can't see surfing in that at all. Pockets full of water anyone?

As to the under...

Dig that. I think we have a winner.

Ok, now we amend the question.

layer under? Seems weird. I have a great liner in my suit and yes, liquid sealed, it's dry inside even after a few dunks.

Or...

Layer over, as I was thinking originally?

Is the Hyperflex for over?

That is awesome. Light, smart and if it helps someone get on the water. I'm backing it.

It's interesting. Has anyone made a "top mounted mule"?  Where you could pull a board down to the water upside down and then flip it to go in the water, and the wheels would be out of the water on the top. It'd wreck your surfing but honestly folks with back troubles might not be shredding the gnar so much anyway.

Also consider the Catalina Classic as a warm up. Similar distance, probably easier to manage support and travel for you and a great race. Also, here's the list of qualifying races.

I agree to disagree on the negativity. If you want to do it, you can. Also, I learned long ago to never put my limitations on others. What's too long or too expensive for me, might be easy, and cheap for someone else and vice versa.

Do it.

Bill, hit me up when you're ready for copy editors. I, randomly, know quite a few.

The Alzheimer's Association notes this but states that there's very little research done. It sounds promising, I hope the science bears this out.

In the meantime, what could it hurt? I may have to even start using it now that I have read a bit deeper. I need to replace some of the bad fats in my own diet.

The quik ones look good with the slick skin. That's what I'm thinking, just a little extra airspace and some windblock without a lot of bulk. Don't want it tight or able to waterlog.

I'm thinking a hood and this and I'll live though anything I want to paddle in.

This is for surfing, but I assumed I'd put it over my wetsuit since I have a great fit, and love the basic suit. I just wanted to cut the wind. I'm thinking a not too tight 2 mm, but nor looking at the Quik stuff I might go there.

I'd forgotten the heated vest and that's an option too. It's a weird thing about the sport. If you are comfortable in the water, you're probably a bit too warm out of it.

There's a horrible surfing middle ground where you don't fall all the time (4/3) but you fall enough to keep you wet and a little chilled (3/2) I'm thinking a slick skinned 3/2 would be the best SUS suit you could want.

Or maybe I just need more bicuits and gravy. ;)
