Training, Diet, and Fitness / Re: Hip Arthrosis...there is hope!

Great news and yes, it's wild what a little effort can do. I think a lot of doctors sort of assume we won't bother. Most don't.

I've been reading "Built To Move" linked below. These folks launched a lot of the programs we see on social media. This is one of the sources of the 10,000 gurus.

It's simple and doesn't assume you'll do an hour a day in the gym. A lot of it is "sit like this while you watch TV."

I got it from a buddy who is a triathlete who told me he'd changed his training to back off a bit based on this book and felt better. If you're over 40 (we ALL are here it seems lol) read this. It's pretty short and 100% zero hype. Made to help you age gracefully and live long.

Y'all ever doubt that Dwight is a nice just look at this thread where he keeps answering questions aimed at some Dwayne guy. 😂

Regarding that stringer, traditional surfboard guys can't believe that epoxy could be so strong. We see that question all the time on the Facebook builder group. They put them in by default.

This video has been passed around the chat a few times.

It looks sped up, he's so good. That crazy tack 360 in like a 6 foot circle is wild.

Thx man. And yeah we all can test a piece of this and figure it out.

I'm going with Charlie Grey Special and laying up glass with carbon reinforcement I think. 4oz over 6 oz (6 only at ends) with strips on the rails to take the paddle whack. Might find some innegra for that. Hmm..

Thx for posting all this!

I'd think if you don't seal the skin that much you could get away without a vent. But not a bad idea to have one anyway.

Also, your work taught me this, don't chamber, or if you do, just cut blocks out of the nose and tail. I'll bet we could get 200gm just from cutting pieces out where you won't be standing. This is how we all learn. Thx for sharing this.

I would like to ask some of the more experienced builders if the carbon over innegra will be more likely to break. Would innegra on top be better? Yes I know it's ugly. Haha.

I think I want to do one of these out of glass just to make it fast and cheap for testing. But first I gotta go paddle a few boards. Heading out soon to test a buddies DW SUP!

The Shape Shack / Re: XPS Board Building Advantages vs EPS Foam

Pono, I wished we lived closer together. I literally have a YouTube feed filled with foam walled camper trailers.

Good to know about the Home Depot foam. It was constrained here for a bit but I saw the 2" thick back at some locations. Just gotta look around. Also a good tip about the other foam glue. I have some good prop house supply places near here and they have tons of that kind of stuff. Didn't know it was superior. Thx.

Pono called it. Delams are caused by the skin blowing up like a balloon. Carbon when bagged and filled lightly, which means about as good as any home guy can do is full of pinholes. That's should vent you fine. And if you laminate anything with a bag and the blank is coarse sanded it'll be stuck down well so not much water will get in and since the foam doesn't absorb it'll just dry when you get out.

Clay and Beasho are showing a new and likely better way to make foil boards. I've maintained for 2+ years now that these are not surfboards. They are tools for getting on foil. We gotta stop trying to polish them like a longboard and we need to ignore all the surf dogma and make what works.

Go build one. I'm trying to work out sourcing XPS myself.

I'd expect XPS boards to delam more likely if they are sealed. I'm betting these are a bit more "ventilated" at least as Beasho does it. So there's no pressure to delam it.

That’s all I want from my board..

Same here. I want to slip into nothing bumps outside on high tide when there's no wind and no surfers. I'm starting to borrow and try boards and find a design. Dwight, expect some DM's. I am thinking that we don't need a 12" wide slipper of a board to do this.

One thing I love here is the idea that there is no need to be right. I appreciate that folks are letting admin just make stuff and refine this process without the weight of every foil being a hit or even working.

The quick(-ish) relatively low labor prototypes are the thing here more than the actual foils themselves. Kudos to the forum for getting onboard with this.

But man would it be cool to see one be a game changer.

Foil Drive will be powerful enough and batteries will last long enough for semi efoil I'll bet. Might never need the Lift. Though that's a great idea. There's a guy in LA with 5 Lift batteries I think so it's a thing for sure.

Dude, so good to hear you're foiling again. I love that these innovations are making this sport more accessible.

I loved seeing this. No reason a foil that's not for surfing has to look the same. No telling what we will see soon.

The tiny Print to Ride Infinity tail alone at only 200 mm and 70 volume freaking worked on its first wing session.  I took so much grief from the experts on that one and yet Chan flew that little, one piece, 3 hour constuction time, tail wing for over an hour on its first day.  Even for those who have no interest in the other elements, that part is baller and can be ported to any existing system.  Sorry, vent complete :)

Agree, the tails alone make it worth the printer. Two bolt compatible would be so easy. Ugh, I don't want a hobby where I get on the computer after a day at the computer. 😆

You are forcing my hand because Hdip only likes computers for communication and BigMtn gets to foil too much to have another hobby.

Hdip, I think we need to go in on STEM or Maker camp for the kids. It's not child labor if it's fun right? Right?

This is gigantic news. It held together and flew. That's all you need in v1.

This is going to be bananas to watch. Wait til all our "test pilots" get to Hood River.

Hdip and I are already sending spies. 😆
