Tow ins at outside Sprecks (Spartan) ... tremendous advantage and loved every minute of it.  You get to ride a board the size of a snowboard.

Donna Reed on the phone with some other pursuer with Jimmy Stewart standing next to her acting like he doesn't care while he stares into her eyes.  That's the heaviest chemistry I've ever seen on film between a man and a woman.

Sounds like a big chunk of softwood to me.  Now a hollow rock thrown in for an explosive stir it up.  Admit nothing.

Downwind and Racing / interest in personal downwind video footage?
« on: December 24, 2010, 01:06:54 PM »
I suppose that a decision would be contingent on the quality of the footage.  I have used a Panasonic point and shoot TS2 in the past to obtain what I have shot.  It has a crappy little sensor and limited quality.  I'm looking at a significant upgrade and wonder how much interest there might be.  Obviously price is a contingency as well but I have to observe all the costs and see how much interest there is before I can even arrive at a ballpark.  There are a few different options which include shooting from shore with a tele (cheaper) and shooting from a jet ski (da best but mo $ with the cost of the ski.)  Probably a better first poll would be to ask if you plan on coming to Maui for da best downwinding in the world.  Lots of space ... no contention.  Great vibes.

I don't know what it is about Gopro footage but it almost makes it seem fake like the scenery is moving behind the guy in a photo lab.  I know it's not fake especially since it's supported by the great beach footage but that super wide angle just doesn't work for me.  Obviously that angle works for many and GoPros are flying off the shelves.  What do Zoners feel about that angle???

You got to make it happen for yourself out in the water just as in life.  I usta think that the ocean was a different world where different rules applied but now with all the people out there and the supply and demand issues involved, it becomes just like everything else.  You create the vibe that surrounds yourself and the experience you take away from a session.  My goal is to always exit the water clean... that's why I got into the ocean to begin with as a kid and realize even now that the song remains the same.

SUP General / Re: At What Point is the Ocean Too Dangerous?
« on: December 19, 2010, 08:16:31 AM »
For me... if it's brown turn it down, if it's blue you know what to do.  Dirty water is dangerous for so many reasons.  Right now it's still dark here but the wind is off shore (that usually means clean water) and I can hear it crackin out there.  We have a huge front out there that will eventually move in and give us a deluge and thus chocolate water where Maliko looks like the AMazon River.  When that happens it'll be time to come home for NFL highlights where guys do REALLY dangerous things.

More flip flops than John Kerry?  No. And I think red roofs are for commies.  Blue is cool and oceanic.  Over and above everything PB is oceanic.

Seriously though if people want to get serious, then this proposed  28th Amendment to the United States Constitution could go along way....I think thinking people can go along with this no matter what side of the fence they're on.

"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States."

That background movie of the waves was pretty slick but it kept bugging me about where I'd seen it before.  Bam.  It finally hit me.  The Three Stooges.  Curly is on a board just like Martha, "Hey Mo, howmy surfin?"  In those days having a background move behind a stationary figure was 'special effects'.  Cracked me up

Some guys thought Gidget was a sell-out but Martha Stewart???  Da Cat will roll over in his grave or at least write Martha a bad check.   But you know what, if Laird can continue to make dough from his image, more power to him.  Who wants to work?   No one I know.  He shouldn't go on Letterman tho.  DL thinks he's clever and makes his meal at his guests expense with snide remarks.  Laird might squeeze his neck.

Strand- Thanks for all your substantial efforts over there in Ca.  Even tho you're 2k miles away from here it provides blueprints for issues we eventually face in the land of bare-feet.  Already in Kapiolani Beach Park on Oahu there are buoys designating SUP and swim areas.  I do both and respect the effort and it seems to generally be working OK  from what I see on the news but I don't live on Oahu and I'm sure those town guys have their opinions.  I've heard rumors of SUPs, here in the State of Hawaii, being lumped in with powered craft (jetskis) and banned during whale season (winter when there are waves) in certain areas.  I don't know if this is pending or what the reality is but it would be a drag. We got new crooks in office now.  All the goodwill they promised gets diluted with the creeps they put in as their department heads... favors from campaign efforts.  We get department heads with no concept as to how to work with the community.

La Perouse... that looks like the Captain on the Starship Enterprise.  Was that you in your rocket ship launching just before I did at 2pm?  (looked like two OC1s) I was surprised how good it was.  At noon it looked dismal but at 2 there were steep little boat wake glides with everything going in the same direction.  Great to steal a day like that in the middle of december with sparse clouds on the West Maui's.

DJ You and Jonathan are down under maniacs.  You'd think you'd be on the recliner chair after the previous drama you wrote about.  Now thunder and lightening.  Electric avenue.
