p.s.  You also get a nice board bag with the Naish.  And the bamboo fins are awesome.

I just picked up a 2011 Naish Mana 9'0" and from a quick paddle around the bay, I can tell that this board will surf no problem.  I weight 155, so at your weight you should be able to paddle circles around me.  The Naish has a much deeper carry handle then the Starboard which is a huge plus.  And the China produced Naish is every bit as good as the Thai Starboards.  Naish boards seem surfier then Starboards, the rails are more refined and that little bit less width will make a difference in every turn.  The 2011 at a sale price is a slamming deal, don't miss it!

Mission Bay is great.  San Diego is a surf town and SUPs are surfboards, no PFDs required(yet).  Stay away from the east bay which is wide open for jet skis, boats and the like.  Check with your concierge or online for bay rules.  San Diego Bay is another story.  There are good spots, but it's way heavier, more polluted and you'll want to stick close to the shore.  If you're hardcore, it's not a bad open ocean paddle from one to the other.

Gear Talk / Re: from *board 9'8" to 9' Mana?
« on: September 28, 2010, 10:09:31 AM »
I paddle my 9'8" around the bay for fun.  I'm a good surfer and 160, but the Starboard has way too much volume for me to surf on.  I've been waiting for feedback on the 9'0", and it looks like I'll be gaming a Mana soon.  You mentioned custom colors which I've never heard of before.  What colors are available and how long does that take?
