Nice NW!
Appreciate the videos and research.

Boy, that has some flat rocker.

I've got an old Pearson/CJ Nelson Noserider by Surftech that I purchased used.
I've only surfed it a few times as I'm usually on my SUP, and my popup isn't that great.
I will say, it begs you to go to the nose - so you may become a noserider,
if the Parallax is similar to it.  Both have that very flat rocker.

Let us know all about what you think of it when you get it.

I wish CJ made SUP noserider.

First rule of surfing: when there's surf - surf
Second rule of surfing: never leave surf to find surf

And, for some of us,
Don't leave parking to get better parking.

I also noticed the weak point where the leash attaches to the cuff and also where the leash attaches
to a waist belt - the plastic attachment, like on the Leash Lok HAWAII - I own one but don't use it - its my back up.

I also owned (but lost) a Haley SUP Waist Leash which I liked more - the belt wrapped around my body more.
However, it didn't have a double swivel - It didn't have a swivel where the cord attached to the belt,
so it would get twisted sometimes.  He may have done that to avoid a weak point.  That setup is hand tied.

I also hand tied a cord, well, at the swivel, to a different waist belt.  So a double swivel. Works great.

A few months before Covid hit (back in around August 2019),
our local newspaper, which is owned in a big
conglomerate of newspapers, suspended
its Comment Section.  The newspaper said it was due
to name calling in the Comment Section; however, from what I saw,
name calling was minimal, if any.

To me, killing the comments, really killed the value of the paper.

***Geeze, this whole forum revolves around Comments!***

The paper had already cut staff.
There was almost always far more good
content in the comments both on local stories and
on national stories. Of course, you had to wade through it.

It seemed to me that they killed the comments because
they didn't want a discussion of certain points of view.

We need a new term because the moment you google SUP, Standup or anything resembling that you end up with a shitload of places that will rent you touring SUPs.  And now there is iSUPs taking up space.  I want to paddle a lot of different surf SUPs under a variety of conditions but man is it difficult to find the places that rent performance surf SUPs.  I do find them on occasion in tourist destinations throughout the world known for surfing but on the east coast it seems SUP renting is only for flat water touring.  Anyone know of places in Florida or NC.

searching "surf sup rentals" seems to work pretty well.

Here in Santa Cruz there are definitely more surfers in the water,
and, maybe, a few more SUP surfers.  I would say, yeah a few more SUP surfers -
just an increase of a couple is a 100% increase!

You can also most likely Prone Paddle surf one of your long board SUP's.

I'm about an inch taller than you (and we'll say a bit heavier) and I've prone paddled
a couple of my longboard SUP's a few times:

Pearson Laird Surftech Longboard 10'6"x23"x29.75"x18"x4.375," 154 liters, 24 lbs, 3 boxes
Jimmy Lewis Black & Blue Noserider 10'1"x31"x4.25," 164 liters, 24 lbs, 1 box

Even the Black & Blue with its 31"width was comfortable enough prone paddling.

You could also prone paddle a longboard SUP in one of your lakes to build up prone paddle muscles
before switching over to a prone longboard - the muscles you use SUPping are different than when prone
paddling.  It would make the transition easier because the SUP's generally paddle easier because
they usually have a lot more volume.

USC and L.A. County Department of Public Health officials have released the preliminary results of their antibody tests, which show a surprising number of residents have been infected with the coronavirus:

"Based on the results of the first round of testing, the research team estimates that approximately 4.1% of the county’s adult population has an antibody to the virus. Adjusting this estimate for the statistical margin of error implies about 2.8% to 5.6% of the county’s adult population has an antibody to the virus — which translates to approximately 221,000 to 442,000 adults in the county who have been infected. That estimate is 28 to 55 times higher than the 7,994 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported to the county at the time of the study in early April. The number of COVID-related deaths in the county has now surpassed 600."

600/221,000 = .27%
600/442,000 = 0.14%

oooooffffff

May 2020 Oil Contract today dropped from an already very low $20 per barrel to a record low -$37 per barrel
(contract is still open).  So they pay the "buyer" $37 to haul the oil away on settlement day.

Whoa, now that is deflation - ugh.

Because of the economic slowdown, oil storage capacity is full, so demand is nil (right now).

Yup, it is interesting that we've not heard of any homeless dying from Corona Virus in Santa Cruz.

I am/was thinking they get lots of sun = lots of Vitamin D.

Also, in that LIGHT, this just in:

"Preliminary results from government lab experiments show that the coronavirus does not survive long in high temperatures and high humidity, and is QUICKLY DESTROYED BY SUNLIGHT, providing evidence fromcontrolled tests of what scientists believed — but had not yet proved — to be true."

@Night Wing

Hmmmm....you might have the perfect location/setup to learn how to Wing Sup?
(then Wing foil?)

I've never done it but if I had the perfect place to learn I probably would.

Our largest private lake is not that large to wing sup on. But, even if the lake was large enough to wind sup, I wouldn't wing sup. Why?

For the simple reason I have had both my right and left shoulder joints surgically repaired and I wouldn't want to have anything like the wind pull on those surgical repaired shoulders. I want to stay away from anything that could dislocate the shoulder joints.

Oh yeah...smart!
