Foil SUP / Re: GoFoil 1.5 Release
« on: July 20, 2019, 09:49:34 AM »
I don’t have Facebook but watch all of Jeremy’s videos on Instagram. His rear foot is noticeably further back on the board now in the latest video (almost off the board) than in vide of a year ago when riding the 200. Could it be the newer High aspect wings ride better with more weight on rear foot?
Tried posting screenshots but couldn’t do it.  :-\

I did something similar about 2 years ago. I took the 5'8" sushi board and mounted my kite foil to it. I put an aluminum plate on both the top and bottom of the board. It worked, but it felt a little too flexy am I liking and it was also heavy even with using aluminum.

Jeeze that seems cheap. Appears new too. Will you be able to make some wings with this setup? If so I want one.

Foil SUP / Re: Next Level Foiling with Small Tail

I’ve seen a few here who have cut down the Maliko tails while using the larger front wings. I think it may make the foil feel looser and a bit easier to pump. Maybe a little less lift in the trade off.
Beasho, you need to visit here and work on turning the 10min. of flight time into 10 miles. I’m making some progress. Fell twice (yard sales) and came off foil about five more times. Still got a ways to go but if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. I’m hooked!

Foil SUP / Re: Any info on new GoFoil Wings
« on: June 01, 2019, 10:07:37 AM »
Just finished my 41.5" wide higher aspect wing.  It has a very slight dihedral, starting at the root which gently bends, gently, almost flat, to anhedral and only dips down to pronounced anhedral in the last 4 inches , nearer to the wing tip.  Used 1.5 degrees of washout.   As that video shows, there does not seem to be any difficulty in bank turns.  I also do not realize any drop during turns.  I'm happy as well as the guys who have tried the new GL wing.  Maybe GL stands for Gull wing?  BTW-  That video is frickin amazing!
Could you post some pics. of your wing and give an update on how it rides?

Nice job Jacko! A lot of useful information there. You and Jeremy Riggs are both good at filming and narrating while actually doing. I find it most difficult to maintain focus for a long downwinder. Losing concentration usually ends in coming down off the foil and having to pump or paddle to keep going. Another guy on Seabreeze, I think JB describes something he calls “retreating”as when you use the speed or energy from one bump to peel off that one and search for the next and so forth. I learn more each time I go and as many have said,it gets easier the more you go. Thanks for sharing

That would’ve been fine on a maliko as you likely would make it to kanaha.
On the south side you would be lucky to make it to  Kahoolawe. If not, it’s a long ride to Tahiti.😉

Here is how MR does it. No leaks in mine and about 11lbs. including deck pad.https://www.instagram.com/flyingdutchman808/p/Bmg2_OWAP8R/
Can’t seem to post the video but scroll through his posts and you’ll see it.

Maybe this will work for some of you who are having difficulties sup foiling. Not my thing though. I would rather use a standard kite setup or just windsurf.

Didn’t know you were coming. There were some small waves in the harbor this afternoon. Better for foiling. Hope your visit is an enjoyable one. I did see Bill and his rig on my way home and waved as I passed. Maybe you were with him. I hope to meet you sometime while you’re here. Aloha

Hold the presses! We may have a solution for my needs. Apparently Alex is already onto the idea of a higher aspect wing for my go foil. Not sure if they are in production yet. Looks mighty similar to the signature that I like. The downside is it’s probably more than $50 💰
