One thing for sure--it's a lot easier on back and neck muscles.

PS:  I don't see any 3 day surfers on blue softops way outside the lineup making any waves.

;D I don't think I have an advantage on a sup. Not yet... I am no where as confident on it as I am on either a shortboard or a longboard. Therefore, I  sup only breaks that I would never prone surf. There are so many spots better suited to sup. IMHO

I surfed the santa ana rivermouth for years with no ill effects  :o that I know of. Now I don't know if I would.  :-\  That was along time ago.  The red tides, now that was gross! Surfed the HB pier late at night when your legs were glowing in the water  ;) Now I live where you can actually see the bottom through the water  ;D

I don't have one (YET)  My oc-1 will have a small amount of water in it IF I huli during the run.  I think you have the same vent. If it flips on a fall i would say that's normal. If not I'm sure mark can pressure test it. I'm fairly sure you already know all this.

Awesome story DJ! And you got photos to prove it.  This shows that, despite all the safety measures taken, things can and will go wrong. You simply cannot plan for everything. Hindsight says you could've/ should've done this or that. You can minimize the risks we take but you can't eliminate them. Nature is too fickle for that. It can make evan the strongest of us humble. Glad you're ok!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Bill. I wanted to do a maliko thanksgiving day, but the turkey held me back. I did get a run in yesterday though. I was suprised that I never saw anyone along the way.
