Dont want to start up a debate on footstraps or no footstraps, just wanted to know what brand the foil folks were using. My current one is starting to fall apart and rub my foot raw (could be technique when i am in a rush to ram my foot in the straps for a late takeoff).
Any recommendations? thanks.

Evan, are you going to post up a Lloyd Living video of your foiling excursions there?
The mainland foil park has been beautiful the last few days too.

with all the rain and wind here lately have been living vicariously thru youtube foiling videos. Stumbled across this one, cool view on downwind foiling. Plus I think there is a Ponobill cameo in here.
Not sure how to embed but..

Hey Cook
I saw you this morning down at dogpatch, i was chatting with Dave Daum from Kings when you walked up. I wanted to introduce myself but you disappeared and I had to get to work. Hope you got some good ones.

Clay
Thank you so much for sharing these. They totally give me hope that I can eventually get it. Learning to foil has been one of the most challenging things i have embarked on lately. I am nearing 40 sessions but every time i feel like i am getting it the next session feels like a bust and take 2 steps back. This morning the stiff offshores really humbled me.
When you say you narrowed your stance, how wide were you standing, it seems like in the video it wasnt that wide?
thanks again.

thanks guys for confirming that I am not the only one with this problem. Track mount, maybe in the future with a different board. I guess for now I am going to crank the bolts, wonder if switching to allen head would allow me to crank tighter than the phillips head.

So i have been at this for a few months so this could be user error. I have a tuttle mast / mount in a JL hovercraft. On a few occasions while up and gliding I hear a distinct crack coming from the board. The first time i checked to make sure everything was ok and no damage. The only thing i noticed was the screws were loose compared to when i assembled things. It happened again this morning on a bigger wave, more so unnerved me, not sure if that changed the foil angle but seemed to be harder to get on foil again after it happened.
Question: when you guys are assembling your board and mast, are you tightening the crap out of it? Or are you tightening it and then shifting the mast around and then tightening again. Just wonder if there is a technique or tip to lock it in. Or is there a chance the tuttle box has loosened?
thanks for the input.

Saw Sam out on this board today. He was flying it really well, especially given that this is only his 9 or 10 session in the ocean!

I just picked up a Quickblade V drive 91 last week at their sample blem sale. Man what a difference versus the generic adjustable paddle that i had. They custom sized it for my height. It has the oval tapered shaft with some extra grippiness on the shaft. Not sure what they did but feels like scales or something that makes it easy to hold on to and not slip. the paddle design with the scoop seems to work better too and the size/weight helps my cadence. Really happy with my decision to upgrade my paddle.
Jim is a really good guy too, he showed me around the shop. If you are in the area, you should check them out.

Beasho or others, can you expand on this? I am on my 18th or so session, i feel confident going straight and now want to start going down the line. What is the best or what are some of the techniques when you are up gliding to turn the board down the line? My surfing skills always kick in when i want to turn and that always ends up like a rodeo show. What we are finding is that once you takeoff the front foot is really just modulating the pitch of the board but when you get better all the turn comes from THE BACK FOOT.
And for the turning to work well you want to be LOCKED and LOADED with your back foot. Nice and Snug, weight the front foot and then crouch into the turn.
