Managed to get two paddling sessions in during my race weekend. Did five races at Pacific Raceways--one first, two thirds, a fourth, and a seventh (spun and rejoined in tenth). Lots of good cars--it was a great weekend. Paddled around a good sized lake twice on Thursday evening, then did about ten laps around a little lake on the evening of July 4th just before the fireworks.

"I GUARANTEE that whatever is written will reflect the truth...we INSIST on FULL editorial control on the publication of said article...or else, we will not sign off on it...that's how we roll..."
You'll never get editorial control of any media other than something really lightweight. Maybe the local shopper, but certainly not national media.
As far as journalistic integrity goes, that's an argument that won't go far in any newsroom either. Mass media exists to sell advertising. Journalists do their work because they want to--very few get rich, or even make a decent living, but as idealistic as they might be, they all know the score. You write the story that offers the most interest.

"together" on a downwinder has a lot to do with the conditions. In the heavier stuff it means "same ocean, same day"
The board looks good. I get a lot of water across the deck of all my boards except the huge F18. But then I'm fat.

Hmmm, fairly hard to get hurt there if you have any experience. Did you hear anything--there must have been thousands of people out--it was hot all weekend.

Hmmm, fishing boards can be any board.
Seriously boring video, but I caught and released a crazy number of trout that weekend. I was letting the wind push me slowly along while I steered the rudder on the Point with one foot. I could see exactly where the trout were hanging out, while the guys in float tubes were fishing blind. A really nice way to fly fish.

Took the grandkids to OMSI--equivalent to 20+ miles of paddling. Geez, I must be old.

What an amazing sport this is.

Not at all, I haven't tried my F18 there yet because mine has a very thick rail which I think would suck in the crosswinds. My F18 is also designed for Maliko with a planing design so it's no faster than the Point in flatwater. I think a displacement or fine-entry 18 footer would fly, especially if you can get toward the nose for the upwind sections.

Racing cars this weekend, but I'm looking to do some long paddles up near Seattle. I'll try Lake Washington I think.

They do, but the sales are better at the stores. worth dropping in, if only because you really do need a 3/4 inch monel shackle--and who doesn't.

A. Sandy is a weird little weenie. go away Sandy.
B. Joe, Joe, Joe. Never apologize. Never explain. Certainly not in all the words you've chosen. First and foremost--don't do it.
Never.
Ever.
For the people that count it won't matter. For the people that don't it won't be enough.
I've had people ask if I felt sorry about the decisions I've made, bad choices I've made, evil shit I've done. And the real answer is No. I moved on.
What's next.
The only thing to be sorry for is that you didn't do enough, didn't have enough fun.
Rock on.
C. Sandy--Pffffttt. I fart in your general direction.

Gee, maybe you can stop my ossification. I went to a therapist today and he was a little stunned at how little movement I'm capable of. He said "lots of strength, no movement." Basically I have to drop more than ten bucks before I can pick it up.

Very cool. Love that area. Hitchiked to Glenwood Springs and climbed Mt. Sopris about a zillion years ago. Went to the Springs out in the woods--fond memories or lovely skinny-dipping hippy ladies. And I do the Colorado 500 motorcycle ride every few years. Next time I'll bring an ULI on the back of my scooter.

I won't be there next week but will the week after. You'll enjoy the race Dan, it's right up your alley.
