single foiled flat.on one side...the outside or underside of the tips is flat and the ...inside or topside is foiled ....

but its such a small area that is foiled on the topside...ive broken mostnof my tips off or at least nearly off and cracked or shredded them on the rocks and reef and fixednthem with JBweld...ive found that the foil doesn't make that much difference...just havimg the angles tips and cutout DOES matter though...

on my NL220 my friend...LAFC! ...smashed the tip off on the rocks at malibu...he fixes it but it eventually broken off again...it tried it without the tip but it wouldnt work right...i could really feel the difference and it wanted to yaw and turn toward the no tip side ...like the good side was very lifty and the no tip side was dragging...so i reinforced the outside with a pieceo of aluminum from home depot and JB welded.it back on...solid now...but i know idid not get the foil correct...it flies great again...no.problems...cant even tell the difference...yay!

i dont know if any of you guys seen the newest AXIS 420 tail yet but...daaammmmmm!...that sucker looks FASSSST...like they took it off one of those RedBull Air Race Planes and stuck it  on their foil!

Hi steamroller,
The best think about these vids is getting a good look at the legend himself!
I have seen all the " steamroller" surfing inflatables videos through the years, but he remained as elusive as Bigfoot.

Your vid describing the NL foil and winglets, plus the mouth cam view, is a good look at your spirit and insanely high positive energy.... love that stoke!

and thanks for NOT putting everything out there...XFOIL is definitely the way to go...the equations cannot be worked with analytically...the math is way to complex...everything has to be done numerically in order to make any sense if it all

cool!...did you calculate the Mean Aerodynamic Chord for the wing or just use the one measurement for Chord at the Root in your analysis?

yup ...6.5 pedestal... 18w tail with the wingtips...NL220 wing...and the 36.5 mast with the base plate adapter...

the mast is a bit too tall for small waves...the wing ends up being below the power of the swell in anything below waist high...and the turning radius is wider compared to a shorter mast...i would've preferred the 29.5tuttle with the base plate adapter or the simply the 32.5 plate mast...
