Help needed
Trying to get the misses to paddle on the ocean...she will paddle on the river or flat water but if there is any waves at all she panics, she can swim well it's just the fear of swell or any waves ankle high to knee high, its just a fear she can not get past......
Have any if you guys had any similar experiences? And if you have had any succes?
Thanks

I did it on the F18 downwind board I mostly reskinned. Never again. Came off in chunks a month later. The board is sitting behind my shop in the weeds waiting for me to do something else stupid with it.
I'm sold thanks Bill, I have just used epoxy.
Not to long now and she will be finished.

Hi guys

Just a question for the glassers out there.
Just finishing off my sup foil board.
I was just wondering if I could use polyester over epoxy just for the filler coat? Any advantages or disadvantage ?
cost is a big one for me and drying time.
I was just wondering if it cracks or delaminates etc.
I will rub the board first for it to key.
Cheers

The Shape Shack / Re: Good technical explanation of glassing
« on: November 02, 2019, 12:58:52 AM »
I like this guy's videos, he's a capable geek with deep knowledge from a physics/chemistry sense. It's specifically about boatbuilding, but the information is useful for anyone doing glass work.

I also recommend the Tesla Catamaran series to anyone thinking about foil building. My eyes popped open a bit when I saw the tape "stitching" method of forming a hull. I immediately realized the potential for making simple airfoils that way.

Nice vid Bill

Good stuff

Both ideas looking good,
I was going to concave the chine rail but went for very sharp slight concave on bottom rail edge to the start of rail bevel.
😉

All concaved up
single at the front 3rd then runs into 2 x single concaves for the rest of the board.
Sink the boxes in,
Just need to bag him up next 1x carbon 1x s glass.
Should be fun.
Thanks for your replies

Hi
Just making my own blank out of Eps.
This one is 5" thick by 30 1/2" x 6'8"

Still using my plywood box support it's a great way to add strengh.

I think I will add single to double concave and see how I go with that,
Thanks for all the replies

Hi Gents

Just knocking up a new board for foiling 6'8"

I am just wondering what people's thoughts are on the bottom shape to help straight tracking....?
Was going to put in single concave running into double concave round front foot area.
Any thought appreciate.
Cheers

HI

I have bent 2 x Axis masts no chance of straightening them with a vice and hammers.

The only thing I could do was to cut the bent part out, it normally bends just after the top collar so I ended up loosing at 120mm.

Just tap a couple of M8x1.25 threads and  off you go till the replacement arrives.

Thanks for the feed back Bill

I think I might try the foil at the back of the box and also put the fins in.
I had a bigger problem a while ago, that time it was the foil that was angled wrong and was dragging so I shimmed him up and it was better, I may just need more of a shim maybe another 2mm or so.
I will give it ago, this board was a prezzi to myself for turning 50 so it has to work. :o
