I did not like the wobble of the Cloud IX 28" aluminium mast on my SUP.
I am planning to buy a new foil for SUP and wing SUP. I am deciding between Armstrong with 72cm carbon mast and Axis with 68 or 75 cm aluminium or 76 cm carbon mast.
Will the Armstrong and Axis carbon masts have too much wobble (like the Cloud IX)? Will the thicker Axis mast (19mm, I believe) be the only one with sufficient stiffness for SUP?
You comments are appreciated.

I've been thinking about making a wing foil board. .... I'd be tempted to make carbon stringers with medium density foam sandwiched with a layer of bagged carbon and get the foam shaped with those and the mounting blocks for the foil and mast in place.
I don't have any interest in hand shaping the board, I'd get it CNC'd
So would your CNC cut include the cut out channels for your carbon-foam stringer (medium density foam sandwiched with a layer of bagged carbon)? I would think a dedicated surfboard cutting machine (AkuShaper, Shape 3D-compatible, Marko Foam etc) could still make such channels with perpendicular walls - or - would it have to be more of a general CNC machine?

Interesting new video about new Armstrong wing foil SUP boards from Real Watersports.
Interesting shapes and use of dual carbon parabolic? stringers around affixing the foil boxes to the deck, bottom and innards of board.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I had seen the thread where people were discussing that Axis is a SUP favorite due to stiffness. It is interesting that my aluminium mast (Cloud IX) would flex/wobble more than the boxes and board bottom. I guess if boxes flex you get cracks followed by failure so this is probably correct. I agree that I should be able to convince myself of which mode of wobble is occurring by applying force to front wing with foil up (out of water) and watching where I see motion. See my post about new video about new Armstrong Wing Foil SUPS and their use of 2 carbon parabolic stringers encasing the foil boxes: https://www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php/topic,35269.msg414219.html#msg414219

I am a very new SUP foiler who has been SUP surfing for 4y and kite foiling for ~5y. When standing on the board in surf I have noticed a weird foil sensation that I wanted help ‘interpreting’. When I am standing on my 6’6” 125-135L SUP foil board with foil tracks with a big 1720 cm^2 foil on a thin 28” aluminum mast, I feel a wobbling or vibration/oscillation of the foil underneath me. I am guessing this is a well known phenomenon. It is a bit disconcerting. Is this most likely the foil boxes and the bottom skin flexing or the mast itself bending? (I did search for this subject but did not find results that answered my question). If this is the boxes and bottom skin flexing, is this board likely to blew out the foil boxes?

Are you using the Armstrong CF2400 V1 or CF2400 V2. Thanks, liv2surf

I am a kite foiler, SUP surfer. I just got a wing. I wanted to understand why mast stiffness is so important to people in this thread and how and when sufficient or inadequate stiffness. is noticed (how it affects the feel and performance). Thanks The carbon flexes more than aluminum mast. My buddy rode the carbon already. He is staying Aluminum.
Was the difference in stiffness so big that it was also not nice when winging? Or just paddling?
In that case I will have to wait for carbon mast V2 with integrated fuse
I have a Gofoil 29,5 carbon mast , stiff enough but not as stiff as Axis aluminium masts, but the new Gofoil wings are too expensive to build a quiver...

Tuttle boxes will fall out of favor because the next generation of foil SUPs will be so thick no one can find bolts that will work. So do you think the foil mounts will be going to tracks systems or inserts?

Best surf paddle has to have an oval shaft for rapid re-alignment. I love my Chinook Thrust 92 paddle.

Check this guy out!
Mexico's version of Keahi. Alexandre Takeo crushing it on a SUP at Puerto. ....
Yeah, amazing next level SUP surfing. Crushing it is right. As phenomenal as Keahi's waves at Cloudbreak are, this guy is taking it to another level in terms of size, gnarliness and commitment. Thanks for posting.

They look great....performance and stability. Bit like a Striker with more performance rocker.
I’m much more interested in the 10 x 29 longboard Destroyer he has made as a custom and aims to go into production. It’s 125 litres so a bit too small in that dept for my waves. Hoping it will lead to a bigger boys version...only time will tell.
The board you describe sounds very different from the shorter Destroyers. Seem like a totally different model. 7'7" x 29" 100L 8' x 30" 115L 8'5" x 30.5" 130L 8'10" x 31" 145L 9'3" x 31.5" 160L 10'0 x 29 x 125L How is this the same model. The plan shape even looks more elongated than the pictures at the top of this thread. How is it the 10' model is considered the same model?

What is the fin setup on the Destoyer. When and where will they be available? What do they ride like? Thanks, liv2surf

Such amazing SUP surfing (...and phenomenal kite surfer, too). What a great talent showcasing JP, Neil Pryde, Cabrinha brands.

Glad to hear ZRE is oval.
On the ZRE adjustable length paddles. Is the top part also hot glued. Probably not, to allow simple and on the fly adjustment. I guess even if it isn't normally, it could be. I just don't like water inside my paddle (or wobble). And for SUS, the paddle is frequently submerged which would lead to water entry via the adjustment interface (....especially on an oval I think).
I'm also intrigued by your cross manufacturer hybrid paddle. I'll look up this thread again... I think I saw it. The Chinook oval shaft goes to round near the paddle blade. I would think this would simplify making cross manufacturer hybrid paddle.
