Nice. Northeast coast seems to be pretty consistent.
It has been a very unsettled spring weather wise, cooler than usual. A lot of waves also a lot of wind issues but I can’t complain. More waves in the forecast.

Nice LB!
Im going to shoot you a PM- Where I was yesterday was prefect reeling rights not far from where you were. Its one of the places people flock to when its Due East Swell. You are right- your spot is tough with that direction.
Sorry, I should have read your PM first before posting my previous comment. I’m an idiot. I used to go there infrequently back in my regular surfing days but now I stick to minimal crowds as much as possible. Glad you scored.

The main reason why I haven't bought a SoloShot is all the reviews saying that it doesn't always work. It's a great idea. I'm surprised more companies aren't making them.
I really don't see why the SoloShot comes with a camera. It just makes the unit more expensive. You should be able to mount any camera on it.
True Badger. I’ve had decent luck with it and I’m hoping if I do the usual routine it’ll work right but for the money it should be flawless imo.

A lot of closeouts today with the swell direction but caught some fun waves unfortunately the soloshot stopped tracking me. Usually, I jog back and forth on the beach and watch the soloshot track me before paddling out. I got distracted by the guy in the beginning of the video. He walked up and told me he used to surf these beaches in the 60's. In 1968 he purchased a 9'6 Greg Noll for $110 and still has it besides some pressure dents its in good condition. He wanted to know the boards value? Nice guy. https://youtu.be/GerPVCMTIO4

I have had more trouble with alcohol while off meds than on. I have currently been on meds for just over two years and haven't had a drink in just under two years. I don't even have to fight any urges; it's like magic. Coincidence? Not likely. I want to stay alcohol free because of the way the odds play out for older people with drinking problems. I also feel the urge to get off meds and have had numerous cycles of doing exactly that and pretty quickly get wild mood swings and alcohol cravings. I consciously know this and still want to believe I am better and I can stop taking meds.
Interesting. I’m sure different type of meds effect people in different ways. Celexa is a SSRI med which raises the serotonin level I believe similar to alcohol from what I’ve read.

Mental illness runs in my family. I’m 55, when I was in 4th or 5th grade my mom had a nervous break she was hospitalized for months went thru electric shock treatment and heavy meds turns out years later her thyroid seems to have been the culprit. She’s on thyroid meds for the rest of her life if she goes off the meds she’s literally a crazy person. I also suffer from anxiety and depression. I was taking celexa for the past five years or so, at first I think it helped, my wife thinks so, but lately I’m not so sure so I’ve been titrating off the meds. I want to see what it feels like to be med free. Also, in the past five years my alcohol intake has gone up which is scary. I’ve read some articles recently about folks saying they also experienced alcohol cravings while on celexa and when stopping the med the cravings went away. I’m not so optimistic but I’ll see. The thought I’m suddenly an alcoholic sucks. It’s amazing how much mental illness is out there. I know of three people I went to high school with who have a son that died from overdose.

I was wondering about wind and the video it mentions “light” wind. I frequently have to walk to and fro in substantial wind I wonder how that would fly using the belt?

Bummer Jim. I see foiling as the old persons salvation. I encourage all my retired friends to get into it before we loose any more of our coordination. Because long term, it will enable all of us to windsurf, kitesurf, and surf longer as our hips and knees fail us.
I already avoid windsurfing and kitesurfing in high winds because my hip is going bad. I prefer riding on air with a foil.
We have a 76 year old foiler here. Many more are planning to join the riding on air crew. Getting beaten up by chop is not longer acceptable.
So has foiling gotten easier to learn with recent technology? I was under the impression it was extremely difficult to learn but to read 76 year olds are taking it up is amazing to me!

So that was you on the foil falling at 6:28? That looked dangerously close to colliding with the foil Yikes!
Beautiful spot.

That was a great video! I’m wondering how you got so good at foiling if you live in AZ? Do you practice on lakes? Foiling is so intriguing but I’m afraid of the learning curve plus I don’t think the type of waves(mostly short beach break) where I live would be worth it. Anyway, great to watch, thanks.
I've been out on a lake twice with the foil. I think the flight time you get behind the boat accelerates the learning curve dramatically. That said, the vast majority of my training was done in the ocean. I still have so much to learn. The more I foil with talented surfers the more I realize what is possible. The best part about foiling for me is that I no longer have to stress whether or not the waves are good. Big or small I know that the long drive to the coast will be worth it. No more bad days - unless its windy - I still hate the wind.
Gotcha. I’m glad you brought up wind cause I’d say it’s more windy than not around here as well. The other thing I fear is I’ve read others that start fouling struggle with stability when returning to SUP?

This has been a fascinating topic! At first I didn’t pay attention I thought the topic was eye sight but I caught up and I’ve learned a lot and have gained a lot of respect for the amount of information/knowledge several of you have to contribute. I do follow news and have my views but have refrained from participating cause I feel I just don’t have enough info to keep up with you guys/gals(if there are any). Alls I’ll say is I do NOT vote republican and leave it at that. Thanks all!
