I'll be out there next week 20-27. What wing sizes is the norm this time of year? I was out there for awsi and was mostly 5's and 7's. Also how thick of a suit needed for a warm weather rider?

I'm on the 75 power carbon and waiting on the high modulus version. Better pump, more glide and higher up wind reaches with it so far. Also noticed my jumping has gotten higher. It's something that I didn't know I needed till I got it. In sup foiling I'm getting up faster on smaller waves and my pumping with glide has increased as well. In winging I've also noticed that I can go smaller foil with the increased stiffness.

I've seen the rear wing break from a jump and I've seen the fuse break off the mast. Plus I hate how they turn in jibes but that's a personal thing. It seems like you're sold on F1 tho so you should go for it. Not all foils work for everyone hence why they're so many out there

For your weight, I'd stay away from the F1. I have a buddy that's a team rider and about 150lbs, he's beaking stuff all the time and one of the schools I work with uses F1 foils, the students always have a longer time learning and the big guys suffer compared to those on my Axis stuff. Ask the big guys in your area what they use and you'll find what will work best for you.

I'm with Pono on getting the 7. The wing span is great and it'll have tons of low end especially paired with the 1150. I have an 8 also in my quiver which I can get out in below 5mph marginal wind by just pumping with the wing over head but the 8 is more like riding a canopy rather than a wing so a different technique is needed to start and turn. I teach with the 7 and it's been great for all sized riders.

The 325 progressive rear is amazing in the surf. Not great for winging but for prone it’s fast, pumps really well and carving is on another level for the rears.

I recently rode the 5 meter V2 strike and I felt like it was more of a refined version of the swing V2. I didn't like the strike in the 5 and smaller sizes but I did like the swing V2. I feel like the strike V2 is faster than the V1 and had wider handles. But wasn't a "oh wow, I have to dump my old wings for the one" reaction. It's a good wing and if you need new strikes or swings, it'll be a nice up grade. I would of liked to have had hard handles and some wing tips that don't catch on spins but I guess if it sells, don't change it.

Does the tail lift up when you're flagged out and going down wind? I'd love to find a wing that does that. The old ensis did it a little but now everything I try, the tail drops if it's light wind and ride fast in the turn.

Bill, which rear do you ride your 999 with and what did you use with the 1099? I use 325/350 on 999 and the 400 on 1099. Just saying you might be too small on the rear giving you that uncomfortable speed feeling. I find the 1099 unique that it likes more rear foil. I went sup foiling today on it and the carving speed was so addictive and I tried 350/375/400 with and without shims and 400 was the winner for me, hope to have waves tomorrow to try the 425. I use the 425 shimmed with my 1150 now.
For low end with ART foils the front of the foil is pretty flat so the bigger they get, more blunt nose to fight to get on foil but once you're up, you never come down.

Just do some tefgel and you can leave it all set up. If you want it really loose then a 350 progressive rear and you'll also have added speed. I haven't broken any mast and I do a lot of jumping with my gear so in my experience they're bomb proof.

You can take the foil off and put a trim tab on the bottom of the mast. Attach the rope to the mast base to help keep it from coming out of the water. One of the Foilers in Cocoa Beach does this technique and it makes it easy to get towed into waves.

528 Kelly park will be deep for riding in South or East winds. North wind is good on the 520 North side across from the slick. 520 slick is best for kite due to the shallows. The beach is the best, great waves and swells. If it's really big ocean side, you can get out at jetty park.

Is it worth their salt or old as salt?

Look up an EPS foam supplier and order a billet. They'll cut you the sizing you want. Or find a local shaper to get on their orders. Getting in with foam suppliers these days is really hard.

That catalog was an early release to distributors only from July. The actual sizes will be different.
