for my height and weight (5"6" 180lb/82kg) I'm liking the 14' on where paddle flat/bay/ocean and mini/dw/surf. I'm so use to the 14' that anything 14'+ boards like UL would only one thing a dedicated fast dw board though I heard some prefer skinny UL on the flats too (so many toys to play).

nice photos blueplanetsurf & looks like a nice place to paddle Off-Shore. Stayed in Kowloon when I was there and had a great time!

First I thought you got a new hat! Then I realized there was another guy in the background, also a dutch football fan, with OffShoot's classic kook hat. (don't worry, I have the same) Then I realized that you swapped HipCam, not boards.
You shouda switched boards. They look nice. Love Rasta motifs. How do they feeeel?
Ha Yugi, you got it! Dutch football fans in the shipping lanes! We wear bright colours so we can be easily seen and hopefully easily avoided or at least they can see us taking avoiding actions. I've played chicken with a few of the smaller ships before where I turn to one way and they turn the same way. Also you'll notice Robert wearing a PFD which whilst not law here is important if we are stopped by the Marine Police who can take issue if we are not acting responsibly.
We actually switched the 3rd person mount mid run and it is interesting to see what a proper paddler looks like from its POV.
I only got a few rides on the Bump Runner 14 x 27 and it is a very responsive, predictable and light board. I can say it feels smoother and easier to downwind than my SIC Bullet 14v1 TWC for a 14' although it is more tippy. Robert has left this board in Hong Kong and so I'll get out on it properly in next month or so in some good conditions.
Only ridden the 2016 BumpRider 14 x 28 in the surf and its soo nice and I can't wait to DW someday. Looking forward to your feedback and video Off-Shore?

As I said at other forum I would suggest the 27 for your weight, unless you want that extra challenge and have great balance like a pro then buy the 24.5.

Rough conditions are probably way less about hull design in an absolute sense and more about which board can you paddle better on. I won't be on the whiplash if it's rough, I have a blackfish coming for that. I also kept it at 26, I can't see a real benefit for me to use a 24" board if it's bad enough that I can't use the whiplash. While I'm sure there is a breakpoint where a 24" BF would be ideal I need it to be able to handle any possible nasty condition. If it's gnarly I think the general chaos of the water pretty much negates a 2" width penalty.
Same reasoning here, except that a BF 24" used was available locally at a good price and I am light so BF 24" should have me covered for everything up to a certain point. Whiplash would have been an option but was only available new. Plus if there is a chance of downbreeze/downwind suddenly popping-up and I am with only one board on the roof, it would be nice to be able to do so. BF 24" would be likely nicer than Whip 25" for this.
Luc Benac, it would be interesting a board test against the BF 24" and WL 25" on the ocean and flat days?

Thanks to kite republic for the test (82kg rider) of 2017 Naish Maliko 14 x 26 elite.
Conditions were perfect (windy st.kilda and choppy).
Head wind was nice though not as good as the bulbous nose board's like the nsp etc perhaps the maliko nose were design to do good in dw not up wind. Side wind and little wave chop were stable with that rail and recessed deck. On my way home small dw runners was awesome fun for a hack like me and coming from a 24 width was nice to be on a 26 width board. Would be nice to test the board on flat days to see how it feels but I'm sure it goes well.
Depends on your taste but I like this board. Looks great and it feels nice and light. I would do all conditions on this board and learn to foot work and watch that nose dive on rougher days.
