Honestly San Diego is not very good in the Spring, lately we have coastal eddies all spring that generate onshore winds. NW swell is dying out and the southern hemisphere has not picked up yet. San O is pretty much dead unless we get a good pulse of swell. The May Grey came early this year and the last two years we have had fairly major rain events throughout the spring. After a rain storm you don't want to surf at places like Cardiff Reef or Tourmanline and some other mellow spots because of serious bacteria levels in the run off. Costa Rica, Maui or New Zealand sound good to me.

I saw a guy with a gopro mounted in his center box running quads. I thought maybe he was trying to film our local leopard shark colony.

You can also just use surfboard wax, works just fine if you choose the right wax for water temps.
I also learned to open my grip when pushing the paddle first with the top hand then with the bottom hand during the recovery portion of the stroke, hard to explain how to do it, but once you get the feel it helps keep the tendons from overtightening. The compression bands work for ECRB pain but not a good idea to overdue and keep paddling while it hurts.

Elbow pain in paddle sports is usually due to gripping the paddle too tightly, and forcing the paddle too hard. It might be that the paddle is too stiff but more likely other joints would be complaining. Work on finessing the stroke; you can also try a smaller blade. Sometimes paddle shaft diameter plays a role but I doubt it with the paddle you are using.

[I'm sure everyone here knows to protect the head when you fall in front. This guy probably does too, but it sounds like a bang-bang play. He's really lucky.
I think it might be important to really impress on people who start SUP paddling how important it is to protect your head, face and neck in a fall. I surf a lot at Lajolla Shores because it is close to work and every year you see people come out with huge boards, with no surf experience, who have no clue about how dangerous they can be if caught by a powerful wave. You should always have a hand or arm protecting your face and neck or head when falling forward or with the board between you and the wave. If it is going to be really bad let go of the paddle and use both arms and tuck, push the board away if you can as you fall. I got into surfing originally from kayak surfing and wave ski surfing where you are strapped in or on the large object being thrown around in the surf, and learned to very vigorously tuck and protect. I know of three young high level surfers who have broken their necks surfing in Encinitas/Carlsbad area -something i always keep in mind going over the falls or pearling face first at high speed. The second thing to remember is that a lot of really stupid nasty accidents happen surfing on small waves - most of the worst injuries I have had have been on waves you wouldn't think twice about getting hurt on.

I think most people under 65 realize that Biden's behavior in a company would get you fired today, whether you are a CEO or a super friendly janitor. If you are a high level employee you have probably gone through hours and hours of training that says this kind of behavior is not acceptable in the work place. He's not winning any votes from younger voters - and I certainly have some very demonstrative and "huggy" friends and I still find some of these videos "creepy." In particular a friend of my father used to behave this way around all females, he ended up being convicted of child molestation. One of the kids he molested was a little girl when I was junior high age, she is the sister of one of my high school friends. She told me how all of the young girls in our church/neighborhood dreaded this guy and that was long before the abuse started. He was a model citizen, choir leader, city councilman, scoutmaster, war hero, and loved and defended by all his friends. It does not matter what Trump has done, if someone wants to be president they have to have the moral integrity to lead.

I'm in Encinitas closest to Beacons, I SUP surf 95% of the time. When it's really flat I take out an old 10.6 in surf SUP and paddle five or six miles up and down the coast. I paddled sea kayaks when I moved to San Diego 20 years ago and spent some time paddling the lagoon with friends I was introducing to the sport; water quality is a big issue. My advice would be when the weather improves a bit and the waves and wind are manageable get out of the lagoon and out on the coast . There are beautiful spots to paddle up and down the coast and protected areas like the cove of Lajolla, and good places to launch and land in manageable surf at the Warm Water Jetties, Cardiff Reef, Seaside. Learn to read the surf forecasts at NWS Surf Forecast Sand Diego, Solspot, Magic Seaweed and Surfline and follow the conditions at the CDIP Recent Observed buoy website.
Be very careful around the outflow of the lagoons when there are tide changes. A woman on a SUP drowned this fall where you paddle on the floating buoys across the channel mouth; she got sucked under the barrier and couldn't get her leash loose.

Looks like Digger took you to my favorite local spot. Torrey Pines looked good this morning (Nice peeling waves, which is not usually the case). I was ins Lajolla and was OK, clean anyway.

How much longer are you in Encinitas? Water has been kind of sketchy the last few days. I'm finally headed out tomorrow AM. I got an infection last year surfing after a storm that took 6 weeks and 4 different antibiotics to get rid of, so stay away from the lagoon outlets and sewer pipes. Lots of better places to surf than moonlight - did somebody give you some directions to the best spots yet?

I'm with your wife on this one.
There is enough electric shit in this world. Simplify don't electrify.
Set an example for the neighbor kids.
Go catch a wave.

Your graph with liquid H2 way out in right field reminded me of when I got to meet some astronauts who when I was an undergraduate, and one of them talked about what it's like sitting on top of a huge tank of liquid hydrogen and knowing the whole shebang was put together by the lowest the bidder.

Welcome to my world.... Mine isn't BPPV but I have some level of vertigo all the time. From a minor feeling of lightness in my head to times when I can hardly walk....or actually can't....I've fallen more than a few times. It's gotten far worse in the last year or so. Worst part is waking in the middle of the night feeling like I'm falling.
I'm sorry you keep experiencing this. I've had three bouts where things were spinning so fast I could not walk. First time it happened I asked my wife to take me to the emergency room, where I got the whole high tech exam for brain tumor, stroke etc. I think she thought I was dying because I usually refuse for injuries etc. After about a month of this I've learned attacks will pass in a few hours and just ride it out. Slowly seems to be going away for me, but I get random bursts of poor balance. Waking up in the middle of the night doing Mach 2 barrel roles is not fun, I hope they can find something to help you out.

Anyone here have experience getting back into the surf after having BPPV attacks? I haven't had any symptons for about a week, and tried body surfing in cold water without it triggering dizzy spins. If you had BPPV, did falling, beatdowns and moving /head neck cause issues when you started surfing again? I'm mostly worried about setting off a severe attack again and not being able to get home from the beach.
