Nice run. Good to see you finding new places to downwind. Still, you and Sveta need to come back to Maui. You both have some unfinished business on the north shore. A big Maliko.

Bill, Sveta wants to move to Maui. Surf is on her mind :) I was playing with this wild idea of doing Maui to Molokai. Hopefully I can get to it, lots of logistics in terms of finding the crew.

Wow, 9' swell, did you guys go inlet to inlet or did you do a beach landing?

We started at inlet and beach landing fighting those monster breaking waves. That is the worst part of it.

@gzasinets

Nice video. Really enjoyed watching it. Looks like you had some really good waves to downwind on.

BTW, the upper garment you were wearing. That is not a PDF is it? If it is a PFD, I want one.
Nigth Wing, this is O'neil impact vest - gives enough floatation in case you loose a board. Much better than a regular PFD. I started to put one on when things get rough. I do also encourage having an inflatable PFD just in case.

This is great. I am in Jacksonville, FL and have been wanting to get into this. When you have a straight North wind, can you actually downwind parallel to the coast? Or do you have to ride somewhat at an angle to the coast and make your way back out?
Yes you can do it parallel to the coast

Downwinder from this past Sunday in Miami. We rarely get straight N winds. But this was the day. The temps were around 55 but water was warm in the upper 70s. Wind was about 25-30 with the swell at 9ft @ 8sec. Great times.

If you are looking for accurate hr monitoring then wrist based is not it. I have garmin vivoactive hr and it does ok I guess. But accuracy will vary depending on your skin color, thickness, hair etc. What I like to do when I need accurate hr readings I use scosche rhythm hr monitor. That thing is remarkable for optical hr monitor.

Make sure that demo still carries factory warranty if you end up buying it.

So an update... SIC  finally came through and I am getting a new board. They recognized this as manufacture's defect.

Yugi, I hope I can solve this problem. I can't get a hold of SIC for shit, i left messages on the phone, nobody calls back ever! I will put pressure on the dealer although I don't understand this reluctance to concact SIC on my behalf?!? Do they get in trouble for facilitating warranty claims? Does anybody know what the deal is ?

What ponobill said, something sure went wrong. Funny because I just got a SIC 14' X in today for nose damage. The rails are pretty soft up towards the deck pad.

eDUBz what year is that X? I had 2013 bullet v1 that was replaced under warranty for the same softness issues. It was SCC construction (but it was semi custom carbon at that time). But that new v1 bullet was slowly falling apart on me. When i stepped on the back of the board while pivot turning - the tail was completely cracked. I am the lighter guy only 170lbs. So SIC replaced it saying that it was something wrong with the foam not expanding properly bs. But that board was soft to the touch. I wonder if that X is having the same issue.

Ok, guys, here is some update. I left the board at the dealer where I bought it for repair. He sent me couple of pics when he opened one part of the deck. It looks as though divinicell layer is still attached to the core and carbon layer delammed. Again, it is to early to tell if that is gonna be the case on all of the affected area. He also mentioned that the carbon layer is super flexible and you can bend it 180 degrees no prob. I thought carbon layer is supposed to be rigid, no? To me carbon fiber patch looks kind of dry, shouldn't there be some divinicell particles if it were laminated properly? Tell me guys what you see and think. I am just guessing at the moment. Thanks.

Lots of the same happening in Bullets from that generation. Just started in a friends. Click click click. It delaminated.

When that happens to lots of boards in a series isn't that clearly a manufacturing defect? Shouldn't SIC replace that for you?

Good to know that I am not the only one. Funny thing is I filled out warranty claim on august 10th and no one has gotten back to me. Very interesting approach to customer service.

They had so many returns and warrantees that they are playing difficult now. Insist. It happens in way too many of their boards to not be a manufacturing problem.

A non-response is not a good approach to customer service.  If you went through a dealer - contact them and show them what happened.  The problem you have looks pretty severe.

Sometimes the ignore method hurts much more in the end.  While many do this thinking it will work and go away - all it does is backfire.  Best to address and resolve and keep good relations intact.

This has already hurt SIC.

Eagle you ARE SO RIGHT! I filed SIC claim on august 10th, called them - left messages (they never answer). Do you think I got any reply from anybody? Hell no! I dropped the board for repairs at the dealer today and we talked about the customer service. What he mentioned was that SIC is now owned by Neil Pryde and they are literally the worst to deal with. I can see it now. When Flow Sports owned SIC, CS was superb now it is shit. So I guess that will affect my purchasing decisions in the future.

I am using Suunto Ambit 3 Peak for tracking my workouts, but yesterday's announcement got my curiosity. I know AW will not compare to a specialised sports watch offered by Garmin, Suunto and Polar but inclusion of stand alone GPS is the step in the right direction. The battery life on AW still sucks but nevertheless benefits outlined by Glowmaster might outweigh this shortcoming. I am definitely interested and I will probably buy it to see if it can do what it claims.
