Nice run! How often do you get these days?
thanks laszlo, not too often - maybe a dozen times a year. Florida is finicky.

Downwind and Racing / Biscayne Bay downwinder from yesterday.

So this week in Florida is pretty good. We have quite a bit of wind. 5 of us ventured onto some dw paddling in Biscayne Bay. Good bumps all the way. Wind was around 25-30mph. Riding my allstar for this one with 9” fcs fat boy - quickly becoming my favorite dw combo.

Love SIC designs with clean lines. Now I have to get a demo of 14x23 RS :)

Do you have a go to shop in FL for that or are you going to wait for next summer in Maui? ;)

Hard to demo anything in Florida, it is almost like you have to buy after a demo. I am planning on doing M2M next year too. Maybe even Naapali race in Kauai too :)

Goofy stuff, don't even see the point. Flat water /dw = coiled/hybrid. Never had one stretch so bad that it drags in the water. Surfing - regular leash or waist leash. The Last thing I wanna deal with on the wipe outs is leash loops.

I've never tried a hybrid leash. What's the benefit vs a pure coiled or straight one for downwind?
I like hybrid because they don't spring back at you. They behave almost like a regular leash. Not all hybrids are created equal though. Dakine seems to get it while fcs is just plain wrong. The only annoying thing that can happen with hybrid leash on dw is when you fall it can get stuck on the tail of the board or under fin so you have to check your leash when you remount. But as my dw skills progressed and falls were less common I switched to hybrid full time. But nothing wrong wih using regular leash on dw run. I guess on good dw run leash drag is overrated.

Good video OS. Good bumps. Who is the guy on the f16 (i assume)? He is wearing M2M t shirt so just curious.

Gzasinets and Area 10...... where in the fin box are you sticking the FCS Fatboy....I've not been DWing at all for a long time but been surfing on the M14. Going to try the Fat Boy as it worked well on a diff surf sup I have.

Sticking it all the way up....you reckon that will work okay on the M14 for surfing? I'll do a bit of trial and error but interested in where you guys are placing it. Ta
Yeah, I used to put it as far forward as I could on my M14. The Fat Boy has a fair bit of rake, so if you put it at the back of the box a large area of the fin is a long way back. But fin placement when DWing generally follows the same principles as surfing: the bigger and hairier the conditions the further back your fin goes. But it's matter of personal taste, so experiment.
I like it forward on my allstar or in the center but never all the way in the back

To me it looks like it has a lot of rocker. Way, way more than bullet v2. No doubt they are fast but question is what do you take for a fun dw run, if there is no rush? I'll take sic anytime...
