Classifieds / Jimmy Lewis WorldWide 8'9"
« on: July 04, 2016, 10:25:31 AM »
Jimmy Lewis WorldWide - Fun board, turny, stable and works great in all sizes of waves. Light & strong JL construction. Includes RS Pro rail saver tape.  8'9" x 31" 140 liters volume. $1150. Located in Charleston, SC.

From JL's website:
"This high performance board is very accessible to any rider who wants to have maximum performance in the surf. Added width and volume makes this board very forgiving stability wise, without sacrificing performance aspects of the advanced shape. The fast, flat bottom nose entry that feeds into the single concave creating lift and speed then flowing back into the double concave through the fin area which gives the board drive through turns makes this board highly responsive and maneuverable. The wider tail block gives the board added drive and thrust while the swallow tail keeps it responsive and allows for easier, tight turning. 5 fin box set up."

Cool, I just picked up the new 9'1" Super Tech and love it as well.  Was previously on an 8'9" WorldWide.  JL has some great shapes and nice construction.

Larry Allison NINJA fin - Great fin, fine condition, $85. shipped.

"One of the finest and fastest fins providing excellent stability and tracking in light wind and water conditions. The difference is the foil in the Ninja SUP. By having the large bottom end taking away the side flex from guys running a short core length from base to tip the Ninja is great for downwind, light conditions and easier turning..."

these handles pale in comparison to the blue planet ones.  i can't understand why the entire sup universe hasn't gone with them.  it's ... inexplicable.

Yup, the Blue Planet handles are great, probably less expensive for manufacturers also.

Yea, would love to hear a comparison between the 7'8" & 8' sizes.

Those boards look like they're gonna be sweet, I want an 8'er  :)

This may sound a bit homeopathic and I haven't tried it but people in other sports report that Alfalfa supplements relieve and relinquish tennis elbow or tendonitis.  It's cheap so it may be worth a try.

Wardog, Are your Nubster fins offered with a 1/2" Futures tang?

Downwind and Racing / Re: 2013 Amundson TRX 14 -durability ?
« on: July 13, 2014, 10:37:24 AM »
I recently picked up a 2014 TRX 14', I've found it to be a really nice all around board. Compared to other carbon fiber boards, I think the construction and durability are top notch. The way these are constructed apparently creates a denser foam layer under the skin. The other thing I greatly appreciate is the white bottom. I live in SC where it gets hot and have found the white paint keeps the board from getting hot in the sun when transporting (it stays cool). For reference, I have another carbon board from a different manufacturer that gets way too hot to transport without a cover and is much more prone to damage due to a lighter, less durable construction.
The disadvantage of lighter weight boards is that they are more delicate and do require some care. However, for carbon fiber, I don't think you can do much better, construction wise, than the TRX.

Yea, I had one of those and that board works really well with a single fin on flat water (much better than the thruster set up).  I picked up a nice single fin of about 9.75" on ebay.
